SEC Game of the Week series

Week One: Texas A&M vs. Arizona State
Week Two: Oklahoma vs. Tennessee
Week Three: Ole Miss vs. Alabama
Week Four: Texas A&M vs. Arkansas
Week Five: Georgia vs. Alabama

Halfway through the beauty and madness that is an SEC season.

By this point, the West could be fully engulfed in its yearly tradition of pulling itself apart. While Texas A&M will be savoring its bye week and resting for the remaining haul, there will plenty of action taking place.

Alabama and Arkansas will be duking it out, Les Miles and Steve Spurrier will be trading jabs, but the most impactful game of week six could occur in Knoxville, Tenn.

After five consecutive Georgia wins, the series between the Dawgs and Tennessee Vols is knotted at 21-21-2. So, the winner of Georgia and Tennessee will be playing to pull ahead, while also competing for something more significant.

Week Six could likely see the East won.

SEC Game of the Week: Week Six

Who: Georgia vs. Tennessee
Where: Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, Tenn.
When: Oct. 10

There’s a few certainties in a football game. Somebody will be angry at a ref. The phrase, “Any win is a good win." Outside of those, there aren't many that remain.

With that said: if Georgia and Tennessee are somehow undefeated by the time they meet, we'll know both teams are for real.

In all likelihood, it will probably also have Nick Chubb in the thick of the midseason Heisman discussion.

A perfect 5-0 start would be impressive for Chubb and Georgia, but a similar record for their Week Six opponent might mean more. With all the young talent that Butch Jones has acquired, a positive performance early in the season could take his team to another level. {"Module":"quote","Alignment":"left","Quote":"A perfect 5-0 start would be impressive for Chubb and Georgia, but a similar record for their Week Six opponent might mean more. Through five weeks, the sophomore’s only true test will have been Alabama. Other than that, he’ll have faced Vanderbilt and South Carolina — two teams that ranked near the bottom of the SEC in rush defense a year ago — and Southern and UL-Monroe. It doesn't take a genius to speculate on Chubb’s stats after that slate.

A perfect 5-0 start would be impressive for Chubb and UGA, but a similar record for their Week Six opponent might mean more.

With all the young talent that Butch Jones has acquired, a positive performance early in the season could take his team to another level. A win over Georgia could unleash the floodgates of UT's resurgence.

So, we’ve established what getting to this point would mean for both teams. Now, figuring out who is likely to emerge victorious is the hard part.

Simply put, Georgia must shut down a Vols offense that showed strong potential late last season. With QB Joshua Dobbs taking the snap and WR Marquez North back from injury, it won’t be easy.

The Bulldogs are expected to have one of the most formidable front sevens in the land this year — that will help. As will the defensive mind of second-year coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.

For Tennessee, like every other opponent on Georgia’s schedule, it comes down to limiting the ground attack. Take away that, and there is enough talent in the secondary to dictate the game.

Both coaches are under major pressure to perform this season and this game has the potential to go a long way toward appeasing the fans. There is also the additional fact that a team from the East hasn't won the conference in seven years.

Will one of these two end that drought? By the end of Week Six, we should have a pretty strong idea which one will get the chance.
