Johnny Manziel

On his partnership with TopLine Game Labs…
“For me, looking at this partnership, I think our brands and what we’re both representing and striving for here with DailyMVP go hand-in-hand. I think it’s obviously a great competition, very upbeat, a lot of fun to get in and compete a little bit in these games and get to try and square off against some people’s favorite players in these quick day-to-day games. For me, (with) everything that David and everybody at TopLine Game Labs, the people who created this awesome brand, have put together so far, it was really a no-brainer for me.

"You mix that with the way that these guys are, and just seeing — earlier, prior to this — Steve Nash and (Tom) Brady and their little commercial was pretty funny to see, just seeing them back the brand. Then, for me to have an opportunity to come in as well was really a no-brainer. I’m looking forward to getting this partnership started and really getting this DailyMVP moving forward. I can’t wait. I couldn’t be more excited, and I’m really looking forward to everything in the future.”

On Charlie Dina and the Go Gold Fund…
“That was a huge piece there, because it feels right getting to have funds go to the Charlie Dina Foundation and the Go Gold Fund just really battling childhood cancer. For those who aren’t familiar, Charlie Dina is a seven year-old boy in Houston, Texas, who struggled with and had neuroblastoma whenever I spent my Heisman season at A&M. Through there, I got graced with his family who were really looking for some support. From there, the Dina brand and Charlie’s Angels has really taken off around the Houston area.

"For me to be able to put a little bit of a national touch to it as well and just get a chance to know that family over the past couple of years and everything they’ve been through — watching Charlie go from barely being able to lift a thumb to being able to finish his kindergarten year of school and be able to go throughout the day without any complications and be a happy seven year-old kid like he deserves to be — it was just incredible for me to help the Dinas, their family and Charlie get their message out there on what they’re trying to do with this Go Gold Fund and really try as much money as they can to battle childhood cancer. For me, that’s a huge part.

"Charlie’s been a huge figure in my life and someone that I’ll always do anything for. With that factoring into this as well, in the end it was a no-brainer.”

On his top fantasy baseball picks…
“It’s all about getting people when they’re hot, so I’m looking right now, obviously, there’s the marquee guys. I just saw that Giancarlo Stanton is hurt, but I saw Mike Trout, (Andrew) McCutchen. Pitchers are really dominating the game. You have all these guys in San Francisco. You’ve got (Madison) Bumgartner. You have (Zach) Greinke going off, no-hitters all over the place. It’s really going to be about catching these guys when they’re hot.

"It wouldn’t be fair giving it away. I don’t want to give you a layup, but I just want to let you know that I’ll be coming for you.”

On his favorite baseball player to watch…
“Probably Bryce Harper. I think he’s a young gun right now, but he and Mike Trout are two guys that I’m definitely going to turn the TV on and watch on a consistent basis. They’re pretty incredible to say the least.”

On being an Aggie…
“I appreciate you, Billy, and obviously, everybody at TexAgs. Still being able to have this Aggie connection means the world to me. I’ll always be a Texas A&M Aggie. I’ll always love each and every one of my people in College Station and Aggieland. I’m just looking forward to another great football season, and another fun, great SEC season. Getting a chance to come back to College Station, see the new stadium and get to interact with the Aggie fan base is what I’m really looking forward to on top of going out and trying to have a good season this year.

"To all Aggies out there, I love you guys and can’t wait to get a chance to come back to College Station.”

TopLine Game Labs CEO David Geller

On TopLine and DailyMVP.com…
“TopLine Game Labs has produced DailyMVP on the web and as a native mobile app, which allows fans of all skill levels to play a daily fantasy sports game that’s really built around competition and social while also testing your skill and knowledge of the day’s games and matchups for a specific day. We like to say we’re the fastest and most fun way to play daily fantasy sports on your mobile device. It only takes a few minutes to get up and running, and we’re excited about working with Johnny on the MLB Throwdown.”

On the partnership with Johnny Manziel…
“At TopLine and DailyMVP, we’re big Johnny Manziel fans. We love his competitiveness. Obviously, he’s had tremendous success on the field, but we really like the spirit in which he plays. He thinks he’s a winner, and we know that he’s got a great following on social media. He’s got a very passionate and loyal fan base, and we feel like we’re providing a platform for him to really interact with his fans in a meaningful way, in a competitive way, while also helping a very worthy cause – something that’s important to Johnny – and we’re happy to support that on DailyMVP.”

On his fantasy baseball picks…
“It’s so tough, because I’m a die-hard Chicago White Sox fan, so I always look to Jose Abreu when I’m looking for a hitter who seems to be a little undervalued this year. Obviously on the pitching side, I’m a huge Chris Sale fan. I feel like anyone who can pretty much guarantee 10 to 14 strikeouts is going to rack up a lot of points for you in the game. My allegiance as a fan is rooted in the Chicago White Sox, but to Johnny’s point, it’s pretty tough to overlook Bryce Harper and what Chris Bryant is doing for the Cubs – a lot of young guys right now that are really tearing it up.”
