COLLEGE STATION - Every collegiate athlete wants to have a happy ending to their time at school. Not everyone gets it, but the seniors of the Texas A&M men's tennis team are well on their way.

With a 4-0 win over the Auburn Tigers on Friday, the #8 Aggies wrapped up their regular season home schedule and moved to 15-3 on the year. At 9-1 in conference play, the Ags have a stranglehold on second place in the SEC.

Texas A&M didn't perform as expected in doubles play, but seniors Jeremy Efferding and Jordan Szabo produced the kind of showing you'd expect from such seasoned veterans.

Shane Vinsant and Harrison Adams, A&M's top-ranked duo, played uncharacteristically bad tennis on court one, leading to a quick demise, 0-6.

Arthur Rinderknech and A.J. Catanzariti, the Aggies on court five, helped Texas A&M pull even a few minutes later with a 6-3 win over the Tigers. It all came down to court three and the seniors, Efferding and Szabo.

Efferding and Szabo broke their opponent's serve to go up 5-3 late in the match. Though they only needed to hold serve to take the point, the Ags dropped the next game.

The partners showed off their experience in the next game, winning a tense deuce point to break their opponents once again and take the doubles point. The Aggies were up 1-0, and it was smooth sailing from that point forward.

After a Senior Day ceremony to honor Efferding, Szabo, Max Montague and Jackson Withrow, Texas A&M won three straight singles matches in quick fashion.

Arthur Rinderknech was the first Ag to get off the court. The freshman, playing on the third line, handled the opposition easily, dispatching Tiger Maxime Hinnisdaels 6-2, 6-3. Not long after that, another freshman brought home the third point of the day.

On court five, A.J. Catanzariti capped off an easy 6-3, 6-3, victory over Joseph Van Dooren minutes after Rinderknech finished. After a slow start, Catanzariti won 12 of 15 games to finish the match.

Shane Vinsant was the last Aggie to put a point on the board. With a 6-2, 6-4, win over Marko Krickovic on court two, Vinsant secured the victory for his team, pushing the Aggies' home record to 12-2 this season.

Head Coach Steve Denton has been pleased with his team's performance up to this point, but knows there's a long road ahead before season's end.

"We've had a good year, and obviously, our guys play well in front of the Twelfth Man," he said. "We appreciate all their support. Our guys are comfortable here. We've just got to keep pushing and keep working. We've got a lot of work to do still in the regular season in preparation for the tournament."

The Aggies will go on the road to finish the regular season, starting with a match against Florida on Easter Sunday, April 5th.

These seniors have been a great asset. It was great to see Pat Cash walk on with Jordan Szabo as his family couldn't attend.
