At 24-1, A&M up to No. 3 in latest D1Baseball rankings

The respected rankings put forth by college baseball experts Kendall Rogers and Aaron Fitt (and TexAgs' weekly baseball poll of choice) are out bright and early again, and if you look real close you may notice a distinctive pattern.

That would be the casual vice-grip SEC teams have on the top, with Nos. 1-4 all belonging to the nation's best conference.

Texas A&M settled in at No. 3, up two spots from last week.

Previous No. 1 Florida is down to No. 4 after losing two of three to Ole Miss, which opened up room for previous No. 3 LSU to assume the top spot. For some reason.

Vanderbilt is No. 2.

The Aggies lost their first game of the season in the second contest of Saturday's double-header at Alabama — but not before writing A&M's name in the SEC record books with their 24-game win streak, taking the series, opening up conference play at a West-leading 5-1 and already seemingly ensuring only a Rick Barnesian collapse would prevent them from competing for a national seed.

From their preseason No. 17 spot, the Ags rose to 16, then 14, 6, 5 and now 3 over the course of six weeks.

Suppose that's a fair rise for a team on pace to lose about two games.

Kinda lame that they're only No. 3.
