The Aggies have proved they can win in every fashion within the walls of Olsen Field so far this season.

With a tight game going into the late innings, the question became, could they find a way to do it on the road too?

In a 2-1 win over Nebraska at Minute Maid, they won without getting a hit between the second and eighth innings.

There’s your answer.

The man responsible for the last two Aggie hits was J.B. Moss and the last one was well worth the wait.

After back-to-back singles up the middle from Nick Banks and Logan Taylor started off the second inning for A&M, Michael Barash walked to load the bases with maroon.

Up stepped J.B. Moss. Facing a full count, Moss singled into right field and gave the Aggies an early 1-0 lead. With the bases still juiced, Blake Allemand grounded into a double play and ended the A&M threat.

After collecting four hits in the first two innings, A&M would fail to collect another until the bottom of the 8th, due in large part to the stellar display from Nebraska’s Chance Sinclair. A&M head coach Rob Childress spoke about the struggles at the plate following the game.

“We had Sinclair on the ropes there early and were able to score a run.” Said Childress “Then he gets a double play and retires 17 in a row after that. We were lucky that he made one mistake and Moss didn’t miss it.”

He most certainly did not.

The Sinclair mistake was a high fastball in the bottom of the eighth inning. The result was a J.B. Moss homerun to left field to give the Aggies a chance to close out their 14th victory in a row to start the season.

After five innings of one run ball from starter A.J. Minter, Ty Schlottmann and Andrew Vinson combined to throw three scoreless innings. Those three paved the way for Mark Ecker to get his first save of the season.

When the final out fell into the glove of Nick Choruby in center, A&M had come up with another way to win. This one has to be their most miraculous yet.

Moss was ecstatic about the way the ending turned out for not just him, but also the entire team.

“It feels great. I was fortunate enough to get myself in the lineup today and told myself to not try and do too much.” He said of his opportunity “I was just trying to help the team out and do my job by getting on base, the homerun was the farthest thing from my mind.”

The Aggies have had their fair share of close games lately over the likes of Penn State, Dartmouth and Dallas Baptist. Coach Childress feels like every one of them helped his team pull out the win today.

“It’s been important. We’re going to be in a lot of close games, when you play good people that’s the way it’s going to be. Playing with that pressure is only going to help us going forward.”

A&M has their toughest test to date with Houston tomorrow at 7:05. So far, they have had all the answers.
