Aggie Air Force pilot earns DFC with Valor for heroic flight

As originally posted by TexAgs user AgRx on Premium, Aggie Class of 2005 Aaron Cavazos of the United States Air Force's 61st Fighter Squadron was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor on January 16 for his actions that helped save the lives of six Marines in Afghanistan in October of 2008.

Cavazos, then a 1st Lieutenant, was the pilot of one of two A-10 Warthogs that dipped below low cloud cover to distract the enemy force that greatly outnumbered the Marines and provide covering fire. Read the full story here:

In 2012 the A&M College of Agriculture & Life Sciences posted a Q&A with Cavazos in which he called the A&M experience "the most valuable thing I could've ever gone through."
