Tigers are fierce, agile and strong. At least, they are supposed to be. That was not the case on Sunday, when the Missouri Tigers traveled to College Station to take on the Texas A&M volleyball team on Senior Day.

The Aggies (19-8, 11-5 SEC) rolled the Tigers in three straights sets, trailing for a total of 1 point during the match. After a tight beginning to the first set, head coach Laurie Corbelli's girls got hot and never had to look back.

Playing their last regular season home match, the Aggies won by a combined total of 31 points. It was a total team effort, with three players posting 10 kills for the match. Senior Sydney Wilhelm, playing her final match at Reed Arena, produced a single kill of her own and came up with 3 digs.

While the home team got what it was looking for on offense, it was equally impressive on the defensive side.

The Aggies held Missouri to hitting percentages of .000, .225 and .075 during the match's three sets. Libero Amy Nettles manufactured a match-high 15 digs.

Corbelli was very pleased with her team's performance.

"It's a joy for me to get to see them really relax and execute the game they train every day for," Corbelli said. "That's really one of the rewards of coaching, is when it all comes together. I'm going to sleep really good tonight."

Wilhelm's feelings mirrored her mentor's. As the only senior on the team, she had a message for her young teammates.

"The biggest thing I want them to take with them is to play relaxed," she said. "Play to have fun. Just be fearless. Go out there and play your heart out."

The Aggies certainly accomplished that goal on Sunday. Cruising to an all-too-easy victory over a solid Tiger squad, the team in maroon looked like the apex predator, not the other way around.

The Texas A&M volleyball team plays next on Wednesday, November 26 in Starkville, Mississippi. They will take on the Bulldogs for the first time this season at 7:00 p.m.
