"You can lean on these kids (the running backs). This quarterback doesn't have to go out there and win the game. If you have an experienced offensive line and running backs, you are able to feel comfortable with them."

"You're going to see quarterbacks go reps ten at a time, or five at a time, but at the end of the fifteen practices, they'll be equal reps with the ones and the twos."

"If they are going to take the run game away, we have to throw the ball, and these kids know that. If teams play us honest, we can lean on the run game a little bit more."

"Coach Anderson did an unbelievable job with that offensive line (last year). He actually changed the way they blocked, because you never knew where Johnny was going to be."

"If you look at up-tempo offenses, we try to get around 80 snaps a game, which there is room for error there. If you screw up, you can rebound, come back and have the opportunity to make up for it."

"The two young quarterbacks are supportive (of each other), but it's human nature. I know deep down both of them are trying to get this job badly. The quarterback room is very laid back."

"These kids are still learning, and we are going from there with it."

"We have one (O-line) spot that we are fighting for. It'll be interesting to see what Coach Anderson does, because we always say the best people are going to play. Maybe our 5th best offensive lineman is a tackle, so we'll move some people around."

"Kenny has rebounded good. We've set the precedent that we are even right now, and he's open to compete and he has a great opportunity to win this job."

"I have tweaked a little bitt on body types like Cam Clear. He's a big, fast, physical guy that I've never had in the past. We've tweaked a little bit of stuff to get him more actively involved in the game plan. A majority of the way we approach this offense is the same."

"I see this similar (to Texas Tech). Jace (Amaro) was a very good player for Kilff at Texas Tech, but they are very different body types. Cam is 280 pounds right now, and that is pretty impressive. I have to utilize his strengths."

"Just to have those big 6'6" body types with those long arms, for a quarterback that is new to the game and inexperienced, it's a comforting thing just to throw it at a big target and you don't have to be as accurate with them."

"They are all good running backs, but at the same they do have the opportunity to get out in pass routes and they also know that they can influence defenses and spread them out even further."

Mark Snyder

"Qualen Cunningham is going to be a strong side end to start with."

"This group of freshmen thus far has been outstanding. We'll know a lot more in the next couple days, but up to this point, with the time we have got to spend with them, hearing their attention to detail, how focused they are, how much they love football, how happy they are to be here, I'm excited to see this group."

"We have to start fast. Two years ago, out here against Florida, we played pretty well and it snowballed. We gained some confidence and played pretty good. Last year, we were young and didn't start fast with a bunch of confidence. It took until about the Vanderbilt game before I felt like we were starting to gel a little bit."

"DeShawn Washington. Those are the three guys we have at nose tackle right now (Hardreck Walker and Zaycoven Henderson)."

"We're going to put Nick Harvey there (at nickel) starting today and get a peek at him there. Is he going to be a safety, corner, or nickel? Because he is a special kid. He's one of the guys we really have to evaluate."

"We have Armani (Watts) at safety."

"Clay (Honeycutt), Devonta Burns, and the three freshman that we are going to get a hard look at (at safety)."

"A bunch of true freshman are going to play up front and at safety a bunch of those guys are going to have to play."

"I like A.J., but he's a kid I don't want to put a lot of pressure on. He needs to work on consistency."

"The key to our defense is the Mike linebacker position. He is the engine that makes this car go, him and those two safeties."

"We've got to increase the quality of depth on defense to match up with our offensive style of play."

"Other guys have to step up. This isn't the NFL and we can't go to the waiver wire and get another guy. It just creates an opportunity for A.J. Hilliard or DeShawn Washington."

"I'm excited to see Darrell Jackson. I don't know a lot about him, but he's someone I'm going to keep my eye on today. It'll be fun to see. He's going to line up at the rush linebacker position."

"I'm excited to see Otaro Alaka. We have him at Sam as well. It'll be a nice little battle right there."

"Competition is a coaches best friend, and we have some right now. That will the message at our defensive team meeting."

"We are putting Jay Arnold at three technique, just like we did with Spencer Nealy a few years ago. Jay will go to three and battle it out there with Alonzo Williams and Justin Manning."

"Strong side end will be Obioha, Qualen, Jarrett Johnson, and Tyrone Taylor."

"Our whole key is going to be rotation starting tonight. Terry Price has his hands full now because we are four deep up front and we have to make sure we get an eval on these guys. Same with Terry Joseph. They are going to be doing a whole bunch of substituting, making sure guys get reps."

"If you want to have a good team, your seniors have to have a career best senior year."

OT Cedric Ogbuehi

On his last year, “It’s a great feeling. My last go around, so I’m going to embrace it.”

On the summer, “I saw a lot of guys grow up. I got faster, stronger, and more comfortable at left tackle.”

On the transition to left tackle, “Getting used to the stagger, which I’ve already done. It’s been a year. I’ve gotten comfortable there.”

“Last 4 years I’ve been on the right side, now I’ve got to get used to the left stagger, hand placement, and the mental aspect.”

“Mike Matthews is the captain, he’s a leader, he’s proven. He’s a big player for us.”

“Mike is a vocal person on this team. He’ll yell at you and get you fired up.”

On not being a very vocal guy, “Mike takes that pressure off of me. He’s always there to yell and get us hyped up.”

“All four guys at right guard are doing well, it’s going to be a battle to see who starts.”

On if Gramling has an edge, “I’m not sure. They’re all doing great, Cheek is a veteran also. Will be a fun battle.”

“Mike knows all the plays, so if the QBs have a question, Mike can coach them up.”

“I’m not sure Mike connects with one QB more than the other. They took equal reps in spring, so it’s pretty even.”

On if the offense will continue to click without Manziel, “I’m very confident. We’re going to move the ball and score points, so I’m very confident.”

WR Malcome Kennedy

“Offseason was a grind, as usual, but Coach Jackson definitely got us ready.”

“I felt old last year, my fourth year, but I’ll be more of a leader to these young guys this year.”

“Josh Reynolds, Ricky Seals-Jones, Speedy Noil stood out in the summer. Young guys came in ready to work.”

“The WR group I came in with was more moderate and didn’t play much. These young guys are ready to start now.”

“(Noil is) physically gifted, but his knowledge of the game was the most impressive.”

Who has the best hands? “I do.”

Who has the second-best hands? “I have to say Ricky has some strong hands.”

“(Ricky Seals-Jones is) just a beast. He made crazy plays in spring. He’s gotten more flexible and a lot faster.”

“The offense won’t be as spontaneous, but our QBs are talented and can move around if the have to.”

“The QBs have similar arm strength. Kenny throws a nice ball and Kyle has a strong arm for being a freshman.”

“Cam Clear can be a game changer. We saw that in the Duke game. He can find the ball and has strong hands.”

“This offense will always be high-powered. A little has changed at QB, but there’s talent everywhere.”

“Not much difference between QBs. Kenny can read defense better due to experience, but Kyle throws passes I haven’t seen a lot of guys throw.”

On his biggest difference from last year, “My mindset. The willingness to lead, grind out every day, and be ready for my last year.”

RB Trey Williams

“I felt 100 percent going into the Arkansas game. I was well and getting back to my normal self.”

On the RB group, “We have our ups and downs, but we try to get each other better.”

“Tra Carson is the leader, but we all work together as a group.”

“I need to learn more pass pro, but I’ve gotten better at that. I’m ready to help this team win.”

On leaning on the running game, “Coach Sumlin knows what he’s doing and we trust our whole staff.”

“We (RBs) always have the QBs back, and we’ll help bail them out.”

“Speedy and Ricky get it done (in the weight room).”

“A lot of these guys people don’t know about are putting in work and can be really dangerous.”

“We’re not worried about people doubting us. That makes us better.”

DB Deshazor Everett

“We have to make a change. We can’t come out and be the same team. We’re looking forward to making that difference.”

“We’ve come together as a team and understand what we need to do to win. We’re ready to step up and we’re going to strive to do that as a unit.”

“I didn’t think it was a locker room at first. It’s amazing in there. Top of the notch.”

“We’re going in as underdogs just like we did in 2012. We have to pull together as a team and get the things done that we need to get done.”

“The defense needs to understand what we need to do as a team and pull together and do our jobs. That’s what we struggled with last year, and we’re going to correct it.”

“We have some young guys who are coming along. I’ve seen some things from guys that makes excited to see them with pads on.”

“I don’t have an issue switching positions but Coach sees me as a true corner.”

“After seeing the new facilities, it reminds us that we have to step up and win games not only for ourselves but for the 12th Man.”

“Football is football regardless of what you have around you. Once we get into two-a-days, it’s going to be a grind no matter what facilities we have around us.”

“Opening against a conference game is going to be different, but what other way would you want it? Every SEC team is a good team and when you start with a conference game, you will know right away what you need to work on.”

“I have to focus on what I need to focus on and continue to work on being a better cornerback.”

“I’m the most physically aggressive guy on this defense, but that’s not taking anything away from the rest of the guys. We have a lot of gifted players. Howard Matthews and Floyd Raven are two other physically aggressive guys.”

“We feed off each other and look up to each other. We all have to step up and do our part."

LB Jordan Mastrogiovanni

“Playing in front of 100,000 people and playing in the SEC kind of shocked me at first but now I’m ready and experienced.”

“I’m comfortable now. I know what the coaches expect of me and I have experience. That will help moving forward.”

“Last year, we only had 8 or 9 guys who knew exactly what to do when we had a play called on the field. This year, all 11 guys will be on the same page and know each other’s role and it will help us make big progress.”

“AJ Hilliard brings a physical presence you don’t see in many guys. He will sacrifice his body and he’s also a vocal leader. He’s going to be a big-time contributing factor this year.”

“Zaycoven is going to be a big time player for us this year. He’s gotten his body in shape and knows the playbook. We haven’t seen Myles play in college yet, but those recruiting sites don’t mess up on 5 stars very often. We’re looking forward to seeing what Myles can bring to the table.”

“I learned more in the second half of the Duke game than I have in any other half in my football career. I really developed as a player both mentally and physically and we learned to trust each other even more. It helped us come along as a team.”

“Last year, because of our youth, Coach Snyder wanted us to know our individual roles as opposed to knowing where everyone else fits and why he’s calling a certain defense. Now that we know what we’re doing, he’s gotten a lot more comfortable.”

“I think Daeshon Hall has a big year in ahead of him. He’s developed into a physical specimen.”

DE Julien Obioha

“Daeshon Hall has worked hard every day. He’s very disciplined and of course ‘Black Death’ plays a big part in that with the workouts.”

“It’s always good when you have a lot of depth and talent. It makes everyone want to go out and work even harder. Knowing that you have someone who can fill in for you and perform just as well as you can gives you a sense of security.”

“I’m happy to back on the strong side. We have freak athletes who can make plays on the other side and that will help me make plays too.”

“The new facilities are very nice to say the least. You walk in and you see 20 TVs. It’s going to make it a lot easier to bring in recruits.”

“My favorite part is the barber shop. It has a nice lounge area and even more TVs.”

“The new guys work hard and know what it takes to make a play. Myles Garrett, Zaycoven Henderson, Qualen Cunningham all know how to work hard and know how to make plays.”

“Coach Price loves having more depth. He says that every day. It’s going to make the d-line much better having more than just four or five guys.”

“However Coach Price deems necessary for me to be effective, I will be willing to do that.”

“Jay Arnold moves a little bit like Spencer Nealy. Spencer was an older, more experienced guy, but they both move very similar to each other. The difference in experience makes it hard to compare them overall.”

“Jay will be very important to our defense. The more d-linemen we have the better.”

“Yesterday in the meeting room, I was going over the playbook with Qualen. It’s important to be a leader to those young guys. We didn’t have that last year and it’s important that we have it this year.”
