Wow! What a coach and representative for our university. Hope we can come up with the $$$ to get the outdoor track going soon.

To be associated with even one national championship is an extreme accomplishment.
To be involved in 35 such events is unimaginable.

Just after the 18 min mark:

Annie: “How have you been able to bring in such elite athletes year in and year out?”
Coach: “Well, it isn’t because we have a great outdoor facility.”
Coach: “We have the worst outdoor facility in the SEC or the Big12.”
Gabe: “Are you the only team in the Big12 or SEC that could not possibly hold a meet?”
Coach: “Yes”

How did we ever get to the point where we have the worst outdoor track & field facility in the SEC and the Big12 and thus, not able to hold a meet here?

I love Coach Henry's response to the type of recruit he looks for: the want to be great (not good) in their event, and they recognize they are coming to TAMU to get a degree. Where was Coach Henry when I was in school (1980's)? [I was an all-state track athlete in H.S. & almost walked on for the 200 Meters, Long Jump & Triple Jump].

By the way, I run track now, and met Wayne Davis last year at a track meet. Great conversation, took a pic with him, and we are Facebook friends. In an interview at the SEC Championships a month ago or so Davis said his ceiling is "to be the best ever. What else is there?"
