Ricky Seals-Jones to fight disorderly conduct charges

The attorney for Texas A&M freshman wide receiver Ricky Seals-Jones told TexAgs on Sunday evening that Seals-Jones would fight disorderly conduct charges that were filed against him early Sunday morning.
 
"Ricky Seals-Jones is absolutely fighting these charges," Attorney Cameron Reynolds said in a press release given to TexAgs. "He had nothing to drink and was at home when a friend called him to come to Northgate to give him a ride home. Ricky went to Northgate to help his friend toward the car when someone struck him.
 
"When Ricky turned toward him that person cursed him and called Ricky the 'N' word. Words were exchanged and Ricky was arrested. The other individual was not arrested.
 
"I have personally spoken with an independent witness who confirms these facts. Ricky volunteered to take a breath test since he had not consumed alcohol, but this request was never granted."

I just don't buy this story. I was there during the late mid to late 90's and I never heard someone call a black person, much less a rocked-up 6'8" football player the n word.

Size doesn't matter. Most of the people that have called me the n.word maliciously were very much smaller than me

Is this the campus cops or city cops? Doesn't matter but somebody, the mayor or somebody in authority needs to put a stop to these stupid "language" arrests. It's making College Station look like a cow town.

I am very, very doubtful that events actually transpired the way this lawyer described it. But good for him I suppose. Anytime you want to get out of trouble all you have to do is claim someone called you the n-word.

Good for him! I'm glad he has a family who can advocate for him.

On a side note, I would bet good money that the average white person has absolutely no idea what the average black person faces. I have no doubt that black people have (unfortunately) heard derogatory remarks, especially when people are drinking and their filter slips.

I feel for the kid if he was really out trying to do the right thing and he got into trouble.

What happened once he got to his friend will be debated. There will be two totally different stories with the truth somewhere in the middle. According to his lawyer if everything that happened right up to the altercation with the name caller Is true then I want RSJ to be my teammate and friend. Hope the truth will come out,

When's the last time one of these guys fought the charges against them? That alone should be enough to at least suspect this is a different story than other instances in the past with players.

I was at A&M from '92 to '98 and heard plenty of N bombs. Lol at the notion that racism didn't exist in CS then or now. Plenty of rednecks from small towns and spoiled rich kids from big cities have no problem using the n word. I just wish RSJ could've beat some ass before the cops stepped in.
