Spring Day 3: Sumlin talks practice cycle, Pro Day

• Coming off the weekend, I thought it was good getting used to pads.

• I wish we were outside, but we have a great facility we were able to utilize. Worked 2 hours and 15 minutes. Ran a lot of plays.

• We'll have five practices done before we get to spring break. Timing is different this year, but we still get a 7 or 8 week cycle of weights and conditioning in and then practices.
 
• We want to get as much video and reps with these guys as we can and use the video for the good and the bad. That way in the summer, we're still coaching even though we can't be on the field.

• We're better off going early this year with all the surgeries and the new guys.

• I miss the spring game for the fans. From a football standpoint, I won't miss it very much. ESPN being there and the whole presentation helps recruiting, but not splitting up the guys actually will help us.

• Ever since I've been here, every NFL team has shown up for Pro Day. We had a lot of guys that got in camps last year, and it helped when there is a guy like Luke was doing his pro day and tons of scouts came to see him and they got an opportunity to see the other guys.

• Johnny will be back in town Wednesday to supports his teammates at A&M's Pro Day.

• Dante Hall and Tiki Hardemann are "student coaches". These kids know who X-Factor (Hall) is and they listen to him when he's back on special teams. They're both back finishing their degrees and they care about A&M, and while they're here they love helping out.
