Cross through was a disaster
I was sitting among mississippi state fans. Everyone gave a big standing ovation for our band and some even tried to video tape their performance.

yep after the 4 way cross was a disaster.... one of the worst screwups I have ever seen from the band. Actually thought they were supposed to be offset like that at first and then when they started trying to correct it I knew something had gone wrong and the domino effect got progressively worse.
did bugle rank screw that up, or did the collision in the cross thru throw everyone off?
Bugle rank messed it up...I was a couple ranks behind them.

I didn't notice any screw-up at the game when I saw it live, and after re-watching it here I still don't see the problem.
Can one of you post the time stamp (minute & second mark) of when they messed up?

It's after we come out of the four way cross...you can see that the bugle rank members heading towards the zone are doing their turns at different times. I can't remember the exact time though.

When the band begins the cross though they are ok, but there is a collision as the first ranks start to clear. You can see BQ's running to their spots after they run into each other. One rank is moving NW, the other SW.
When the 6 bugle rank members are moving from north to south you can see they are off, and then when they clear you can see the flourish is also not together.
I'd say 98% of the crowd didn't notice, but those of us who had marched in the band saw it immediately.

Yep. Collisions in the cross through happen, and can be corrected by individual actions. What blew up afterwards is hard to explain. Either the end of the drill was badly designed or somehow three files on one side got 2 steps ahead or behind, and failed to improvise a correction by using a countermarch at the next opportunity to realign (granted, that would be hard to manage). It could have been worse. They did manage to keep going and avoid any major pileups or formation collisions and were only 2 steps off.
What saved them this time was halting and then running to the Giant Corps T. If they'd gone on to the Band block T, all hell would have broken loose.

Halt: when they are all supposed to stop together at the same time. Right before the block t is formed

What I noticed was the fourth consecutive, unique performance in a month of Saturdays, stacked on top of an earlier month-of-Saturdays performances. I sure as hell could not do it and I question whether any of the whiners on this thread could.
My hat is off to the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for a season of performances that made most Aggies, including this non-reg, well up with pride.

First off, great job with the name calling. Putz is most definitely a word people still use today.
Secondly, put on your reading glasses, old man, I wasn't talking to you.
You are correct GARBQ, I apologize. But, a snarky comment like you made is just as insulting to someone as a calling you name. That was why I used it. Perhaps if you said "Well, I've seen a lot worse," or something, I would have not the same reaction.

7 posters on this thread, including me, were all in the band at one time. I'm pretty confident that we all worked hard and marched many drills in our college career, including the 4 way cross through.

I'm sorry as well. I meant for it to come off as a joke. This was a poorly executed drill, but as someone who was a sophomore for the block question mark, this one just doesn't seem like something that will haunt them for the rest of their lives.
all I know is that everyone will know it is messed up the next time we have one of the worst ever.
