Recruit Profile

Jonathan Wiggins

Alief Taylor (Houston, TX)
Ht: 6-3  Wt: 215

Recruiter: McKinney
Offer: Yes
A hard-hitting safety who already tops 200 pounds and excels in run support, Wiggins is built like someone who has spent time in an NCAA weight room. Yet, he could easily add another 20 pounds or so to his athletic frame. He’ll be a 6-3, 215-pound defensive back who plays a physical brand of football. Like fellow safety signee Shaan Washington, Wiggins brings flexibility to a loaded A&M class. Because of his frame and physical style, Jonathan has a chance to contribute as a big safety, playing in the box against slot receivers in spread offenses or he even grow into a linebacker. Some program insiders believe Wiggins, because of his size, could quickly emerge as a special teams standout and possibly making a key contribution in year one. Despite missing a portion of his junior season due to injury, Jonathan also held a very early offer from Utah and was beginning to attract plenty of regional looks before Sumlin and the Ags locked him up. He was one of the first two players that the Aggie staff offered at the position because Marcel Yates and defensive coordinator Mark Snyder were intent on adding more size, speed and playmaking ability to the back end of the Aggie secondary. As a senior, Wiggins earned 5A Honorable Mention All-State honors, second team All-Region and 18-5A first team All-District accolades. He also tallied 111 tackles with 7 forced fumbles, and 9 pass break-ups.
