Isaiah Golden

Defensive Tackle

Carthage (Carthage, TX)
Ht: 6-2  Wt: 300

Recruiter: Anderson
Offer: Yes
A national Top 100 prospect, Golden actually committed to the Aggies under former coach Mike Sherman and stayed a rock-solid Aggie from wire to wire despite consistent overtures from Texas, Oklahoma and several Southeastern Conference powers. Frankly, I’m not sure there is a more physically-gifted player in this year’s A&M class. At 6-3 and 305 pounds, Isaiah plays like a bull in a china shop. He dismantles offensive linemen, destroys blocking schemes and obliterates running backs and quarterbacks on virtually every snap. Calling Golden “disruptive” doesn’t do the big man justice. “Destructive” is more appropriate. Golden possesses a devastating blend of size, power, strength, quickness and athleticism. He’s as adept at manhandling would-be blockers as he is exploding out of his stance and shooting through a gap. The 305-pound wrecking ball makes things happen, whether chasing down ball-carriers or delivering a crushing blow to the quarterback. As a junior, Golden was a first team All-District choice after registering 78 tackles, 8 sacks and 14 tackles for loss. Isaiah topped those numbers in 2012, earning 3A second team All-State and 20-3A Defensive MVP honors after a senior campaign in which he had 76 stops, 32 TFLs, 4 sacks, 4 forced fumbles and 18 quarterback hurries. The U.S. Army All-American also added three rushing touchdowns for good measure and was a stalwart on Elysian Fields’ special teams units. A soon-to-be 320-pound interior defender, he can dunk a basketball. Isaiah Golden has a legitimate chance to start as a true freshman on a Top 5 team. He oozes NFL potential and is an impact defensive lineman in a lineman’s league.
