Brief update on today's visitors
Ft Bend Marshall QB Malik Hornsby and OLB Warren Robinson both made the trip to College Station today. They had to cut out of town a slight bit earlier this evening due to an illness in the family of their chaperone. Both Robinson and Hornsby watched the Aggie players work out a bit on the practice field, met with members of the A&M staff, and took some pictures. Robinson spoke with Terry Price for a bit who invited him to come to camp. I was told that Robinson will be back in Aggieland on Wednesday. It sounds like Hornsby met with Jimbo Fisher and Darrell Dickey at length today. Their message hasn't changed either. They're still intrigued with Malik's upside as a quarterback and understand that he's an elite athlete. From what I've been able to gather, it sounds like Malik is in a little bit of a tough place in terms of where he wants to be in the future. UNC taking the other quarterback threw him for a loop. I believe, based on what I know, that the whole sequence of events was not well communicated by the Tar Heel staff. I was told the Aggie coaches understand the spot Malik is in and will communicate with him as openly as they can. Lastly, look for Devon Achane's name to pop on the visitor list soon. My source that possibly as early as Wednesday when Robinson returns.

Recruiting notes - Monday afternoon
- Speaking to a source in Missouri City this afternoon, it sounds like Ft Bend Marshall QB Malik Hornsby will be coming to campus today. The question mark is Devon Achane. Achane arrived after midnight from a track event in New Mexico. He was pretty gassed from the weekend when I checked in around lunch. His status for the trip to College Station was in question. I was told by two separate sources though that if he didn't make it today, he'd come back next weekend. Also, I believe OLB Warren Robinson was at UH camp today and would make a decision on the trip after he got done. - Many of you have been asking about safety prospects this week. From what I heard today, A&M will continue to pursue recent Tennessee commit Antonio Johnson as well as Vito Tisdale (who will visit this weekend) and Jordan Morant. I was told again today that Morant is rescheduling his visit to Texas A&M. - Got an interesting update on recent LB offer Kenneth Phillips from a source today. Apparently, Phillips really impressed with his measurables - maybe not in terms of current height but everything else. His hands were greater than 10 inches. He's got size 12 feet. He had a plus wing span, and his dad is 6-3 and mom is 5-9. In other words, it's highly likely that he's not done growing. - Both Alfred Collins and Princely Umanmielen sat down extensively with Mike Elko over the weekend to dive into the ins and outs of the Aggie defense. From what I understand, Elko was able to show them three years worth of tape from A&M, Notre Dame, and Wake Forest to specifically show them how their skill sets fit into what the Aggies want to do defensively. Collins camped at Texas and would have camped at A&M had the staff asked him. - 2021 Port Arthur Memorial DE Jordon Thomas will be in town this Friday to camp and visit A&M for the first time. - While I'd still call Texas the favorites for Vernon Broughton, the field is definitely closing. Word I got was that LSU did a great job on the OV, and he did stay an extra day in College Station last week while deciding the Ags would get the final official visit. Broughton is likely an interior, 3 tech guy, but he's versatile enough to play just about anywhere along the defensive front. - Keep an eye on LB Derek Wingo out of Florida. The Aggies may get an official from him in the next couple of weeks. Just another name to know at LB.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Considered one of the top 250 prospects in the state. Has the physical skills to be a potential contributor at a D-1 program over the course of his collegiate career with significant development. Professional potential is low.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
