Profile
Like Shep Klinke on the offensive side, Damontre Moore is an Aggie signee that Mike Sherman identified and took a strong liking to long before the recruiting services caught on.
A big part of the reason that Moore was an unknown before the Aggies snatched him up last spring is because the still-developing lineman wasn't even a full-time starter as a junior and college coaches had yet to see him during the spring evaluation period. Nevertheless, Sherman saw something special in Moore's ability as a natural pass-rusher and the Aggies extended a springtime offer.
Following a stellar camp season during which he was basically the most impressive d-lineman at every session he attended, Moore blew up as a senior, posting gaudy totals of 80 tackles, 17 TFL's, 10 sacks, 4 FF, 6 pressures and two safeties. By November, Moore was no longer considered an 'under-the-radar' recruit, racking up 5A Honorable Mention All-State and First Team All-Area (Dallas Morning News) honors.
Moore is a tall, rangy athlete with ridiculously long arms and a skinny frame that will add plenty of weight. Despite devoting his previous off-seasons to the hardwood, Damontre already stands over 6-5 and checks in at around 230 pounds. By next summer, the rapidly-developing d-end could be a 6-6, 260-pound beast on the edge.
At this time, Moore's strengths are his length and ability to use his reach to help him against the pass and run. He also showed very good closing speed as a senior, frequently chasing plays down from behind. Unlike many rangy young DE's, Damontre moves very well laterally (perhaps due to his hoops background) and plays with a low pad level.

What They Are Saying
"Damontre is definitely a force out on the field. He's 6-6 and really runs well. When he gets to the football, he's got a pretty good punch to him. He did a great job as a defensive end for us, and also on special teams. He was great on punt and kickoff coverage. I think he's really going to help the Aggies." - Rowlett head coach Kiff Hardin.
"For me, A&M was like a home away from home. Some coaches at other schools just talk about themselves and try to sell you on everything. But with A&M they kept it real with me and treated me like I was more than just a prospect. They treated me like a human being and took time to get to know me. It was just really like a home environment and I knew it was right for me." – Damontre Moore.
