Profile
Because he was a great high school football player in the state's highest classification, Cedric Ogbuehi isn't what you'd call a 'project.' That said, he'll be all upside potential upon arriving at A&M. Why? Ogbuehi has only played on the offensive line for two years and has only begun to scratch the surface as a left tackle.
The 6-5, 270-pounder played defensive line for the varsity as a sophomore but was moved to offense prior to his junior season. All Ogbuehi did was start sixteen games at left tackle for an unbeaten, 5A state championship squad, grading out at 91-percent, registering 45 pancakes and 52 knockdowns. Following his first season as an o-lineman, Cedric earned 5A First Team All-State, All-Area and All-District honors.
Ogbuehi was even more dominant as a senior, racking up essentially the same post-season honors and accolades. Allen's season playoff run wasn't nearly as deep, but Cedric still managed a 91-percent grade and totaled 40 pancakes and 42 knockdowns, allowing just a single sack. The highlight of his '09 season was an epic battle with Plano West DE Jackson Jeffcoat -- the state's No. 1-ranked recruit. Ogbuehi spent a good portion of the game going one-on-one with the blue-chip end, allowing neither a sack nor a single tackle for loss.
Mike Sherman, Jim Turner and the Aggies expect a lot more of the same from Cedric in an A&M uniform. Ogbuehi -- who, at the same age, reminds me of Oklahoma State All-American Russell Okung -- is a tall and lean tackle prospect with exceptionally long arms. He is also cat-quick out of his stance and possesses great speed, which enables him to get to the second level of a defense with ease. Long story short, Ogbuehi is a natural at the tackle position and a player that Jim Turner and A&M S&C coach Dave Kennedy cannot wait to get their hands on.

What They Are Saying
"I think there's nothing but upside for Cedric. He's a great, hardworking kid, and I know he'll come in to A&M and do tremendous things. He has a frame that can put on a lot more weight and, with his arm reach, I think you'll see tremendous things out of him. His biggest asset is his athleticism. The key for Cedric is he can really run for a big kid. There are some highlights you can see where he really gets out and runs full speed. He can flat go for a big kid." - Allen head coach Tom Westerberg.
"Ogbuehi is another very good athlete playing on the offensive line that needs only time to develop physically. Can really move the feet quickly and has the ability to run. Nice arm length." - ESPN recruiting analyst Gerry Hamilton.
