Domonique isn't the biggest or fastest linebacker in the state but his productivity, instinctive play and ability to shed blocks, drop into coverage and chase down opposing ball-carriers, quarterbacks and receivers are what made him a very early 'take' in the eyes of the Aggie coaching staff.

A prospect who reminds me a little bit of former A&M tackling machine and San Francisco 49'er Cornelius Anthony, Patterson projects as an inside 'backer in the Ags' new 3-4 scheme. Domonique is a versatile linebacker who has shown the ability to make plays from sideline-to-sideline. He also shows great instincts when dropping into coverage and has surprisingly good ball skills. Other aspects of Patterson's game that jump out at you are his well-timed blitzes and the fact that he's a sure, forceful tackler who usually keeps ball-carriers from 'finishing' runs with extra yards.

This fall, Patterson earned 5A Honorable Mention All-State and Second Team All-Area honors while playing alongside OU signee Corey Nelson and 2011 blue-chip Anthony Wallace. Domonique racked up 123 tackles as a senior, including 11 tackles for loss, 6 sacks and a pair of defensive touchdowns.

As a junior, Patterson posted eye-catching totals of 121 tackles, 11 sacks, 4 TFL's and two interceptions returned for scores (Patterson picked off three passes, total).

Patterson -- a first-team All-District selection as a junior and senior -- ultimately chose the Aggies over early offers from Tech, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota and Stanford.
