I think he will end up in the finalists this year, but won't win it. The Heisman voters seem to favor upperclassmen. I really think this guy is ready to go off this year.

How well Goodson does depends on how well A&M does...why? B/C no one has given a sh/t about A&M football for a while now...in order for him to get some recognition, A&M needs to win 10 games, and he needs to be in AT LEAST the 1400-1500 yards game w/ a YPC over 6...

Sunshine pumping sh/tbricks will come on here and tell you otherwise...they are wrong.

No preseason hype, to begin with. Maybe next year if he blows up this year.

We're not really in "pre-season", we may see some hype towards the end of july-mid august.

I agree that his chances depend on how well the team does, however I don't think he will be that much of a standout player. With all of the options at tailback this year, he's not going to get heisman like touches, at least not like Bush got.

Also there will be more of a pass presence in our offense, hopefully, so if our offense is more diverse the best canditate will be Stephen.

His leadership, and talent are already well known across the nation.

I'd say let him reach the 1,000 yards rushing mark, or even 1,000 total yards, then you can talk about what his Heisman hype might be...until then...maybe you should temper expectations.

To even have a remote shot, Goodson would have to have a monster game @ Miami to get the early season momentum rolling in his direction. If you look at history, the winner usually has an attention grabbing game early to capture the voter's eyes.

No chance for heisman recognition. Opposing D's will stack the line. Just not happening this year.

If we win 10 games and he has good stats.

Assuming they do this, I hope we counter with a good portion of play action.

We did it sparingly last year....but would LOVE to see more.

Then, when they come off the line, continue hammering our RB's away.

Unfortunately for us, any Ag would have to have 1,800 - 2,000 yards rushing and good receiving stats to even be considered. We just are not recognized enough yet to have anyone seriously considered.

Could change in a year or so though.

Goodson's biggest hurdle to winning the Heisman is that he has to share his carries with Lane, Tarrant, Alexander, B. Stephens, etc.

He's got all the talent in the world but he's going to split carries.

Goodson had similar numbers to Jamaal Charles' freshman season... and I seem to remember Horn fans hyping him up pretty well about a year ago.

You didn't hear me hyping Charles. He's got to stay healthy and run tougher between the tackles before he can prove himself as an elite back. Granted he's got great speed, but he's got to be able to get the 4 yards up the middle when we need it to be an all-around back.

you can't win the heisman without touchdowns, lane will get 70% of the touchdowns. he will get plenty of hype though. he's already listed as the #7 rb for next year and people like corso were pumping him last year as the big 12's reggie bush. he'll won't get consideration for a heisman though

If you want to draw comparisons, then lets use facts.

JC (as a freshman) had 1,063 total yards and 13 TDs as a freshman. Goodson had 1,042 total yards (I alluded in my previous post that he didn't reach the 1,000 mark, I was wrong) and 4 TDs.

JC scored a TD a game, Goodson scored a TD less than once every three games. That is a big difference. As a previous poster noted...you have to score to get Heisman hype. However, neither of these guys deserved Heisman hype after their freshman numbers. Possible All Conference expectations...yes...Heisman...no.

For a RB to be considered, they have to at least rush for 1,800 yards, and should have a 2-3 hundred recieving/return yards to go with it.

Also, if they are under 2,000 yards, the team will need to win at least ten (but more than likely 11) games.

If they are over 2,000 yards then the team record is less important, although history shows that the last two RBs to win with 8-3 records or worse were Sanders and Williams. Pretty rare.

we have to do well and he has to have a big year first. then maybe when he's a junior. let's be realistic here.

According to sunshine pumpers every Aggie football player is All-American, deserving of some award, better than a t$ip, potential first round draft pick, tough as nails, a leader, etc. but give Fran 10 years to win something.

Looks like Booty (USC) and Slaton (WVU) are the early favorites, with McFadden (Arkansas) and Brohm (Louisville) not far behind.

He definitely has the talent (he as an almost unnatural ability to see the right path and the holes) and the speed, but the heisman is more than just being a terrific player. With the talent spread across the field like it is, I'm not sure he'll get enough carries to awe people with stats. I bet he'll the ESPN highlight reel a fair bit though.

If he can manage one big break out run, like the one above, every game in conference, I think he will be a finalist, but would not have a chance at winning until his Junior year.
