first off his confirmation will occur before control changes hands, but even if it did not, even with the Dems in power, Gates would breeze through it.

Oh, I fully expect him to be confirmed without so much as a speed bump, but I can't help but shake my head at the viscerally negative reaction from many on the left to anything W does or anyone with whom he associates.

Keegan: True. But as you know, that accusation is also true for many righties who automatically attack anything a Democrat says, does, or associates with.
I think Gates is a good choice.

The redstate columnists are extremely angry at GWB right now.
