I have to go with Midland's stadium. That is pretty freaking awesome. Those WT schools know where to put their money.

I always thought this was a pretty good stadium for a high school.

Before this thread gets out-of-hand, let's lay down some ground rules. The following stadiums are excluded from this post:
1) Any stadium that is "shared" by multiple high schools (Examples: Midland, Waco, practically any stadium with "ISD" in the title, and most suburbs)
2) Any stadium that is off-campus in a large-size town (off-campus in a 2A town is okay because the towns are small)

Basically, limit to stadiums that actually belong to only one school and are on that school's campus. The list will be shorter, but it won't be the same stadiums that we always see on these lists.

My alma mater, Silsbee High, has one of the nicest AAA stadiums around. Palestine's is very good, too.

There ya go! Tx Ag 97 gets it! I'll go now...Give me Longview and Marshall. Longview's stadium is especially impressive considering it was built in the mid-70's and is still better than most in Texas. It's sunken in the ground so you walk in on the top row.

Temple High meets those criteria--and it is getting updated turf and jumbotron.

I'll throw in Duncanville's Panther Stadium. It was built in the late 1980s, but has stood the test of time pretty well. It seats 10,000 with about 2,000 chairbacks and the rest are bleachers. Most recently they added Fieldturf and a pressbox elevator.

In the Ambience Category:

The view from the pressbox in Alamo Stadium on a clear autumn night in San Antonio is pretty awesome.

Sorry if "ambience" blips up on your gaydar screen.

Give em hell, Fran!

I've been to Duncanville and Temple's stadiums and both are impressive. The facilities at Longview have been so good for so long that I'm rarely impressed with anything I see at another school, however, Southlake definitely has some impressive digs.

The Mustang Bowl in Sweetwater is a great place.

In the Panhandle I like all the old Rock Fences made during the depression by the WPA or CCC.

A lot of great memories inside those old walls. And many generations of boys that played there. Grandfathers, Fathers, and Sons.

I think all the stadiums in the little SWC would have to be in this conversation. Shotwell, though not just beautiful, goes absolutely wild. San Angelo stadium, up until 2 years ago was strictly for Central, and is a really large stadium for High School. Angelo State rents the use of it from SAISD, if a college team uses your stadium, it has to make the list. Midland's stadium is sweet, and is the first high school stadium I know of that is valuable enough to sell naming rights. (Grande communications stadium) My all-time favorite is Ratliff, just like the rest of the nation not understanding paying a high school coach 100k in the 80s, they didn't understand Ratliff. The stadium was better than all but 20 - 30 college stadiums for 15 - 20 years.

Abshier is a great place to watch a game: good number of visitor's seats, steep bleachers, easy in and out of the parking lot.

Waco ISD Stadium is the stadium that started the boom..... it was built in 2000.

Here are the photos...

http://www.wacoisd.org/gallery.html

There are some more photos here on the Waco High football website http://www.mywacolions.com

Since it was built in 2000...it is right behind Texas Stadium's mark in hosting the most playoff games due to it's most central location in Texas.

My child's car is in the first of the Wildcat Stadium (Temple) pictures, parked in the parking lot, obviously!!

I'm probably also in the stands in the second picture, since I arrive early.

How funny.

TAMUAG25, I believe (I could be wrong) that Temple had this stadium before Waco ISD built their's. I remember there being a big to-do about "copying".

Here's the new CFISD basketball arena which is connected to the stadium.

Pretty out of control.
