I didn't see this on here but apparently confirmed 2 hours ago per twitter. I'm sure it's somewhere and someone that doesn't make mistakes or have anything else to do will berate me.

haha. Comes down from the north, then we move him into our backyard from the plains, and now he decommits.

Need this guy. Still think he ends up here, but no way this can be spun as even neutral news.

On the positive side, April and spring ball should bring some more good commits. Need to get this kid back in the fold.

I agree we need him bad. People may want to bash but it's b/c something they wanted was taken away...kind of like my toddler acts. Christian if you are reading this....we want you to be an
Ag!

How highly rated is this kid? And one has to wonder why he committed so early to begin with if he was that fickle.

He wasn't fickle until we fired Sherm and then Terrell Williams left for the NFL.

Hell still likely commit to the good guys. But I'd rather a kid decommit now when he's first having second thoughts than leaving us hanging on signing day.

We were his spare tire. Not unusual for this to happen, except it is so early in the process.

Were these the legit reasons? Were there more? Did he feel like we were bringing in too many D-Line guys? Odd he'd decommit right after we got our new D-Line coach, who's a former Ag and has tons of SEC experience, right?

I've seen 'em play since way back when

Fickle? We fired Sherman and Williams left. How is that Fickle?

And a&m wasn't his spare. Still a decent chance he plays for the ags.

How many times has it happened to us that a kid would recommit back to the good guys, after decommititng? I do not remember any

Hopefully he re-commits, although that doesn't seem to happen very often.

We need him.

I do not think our new coaches are very high on this guy. Several posters who watched him play this year said he was not that impressive on the field. It might have been a mutual decision between him and the A&M coaches.

I've watched the kid play all year. He was the least productive D-lineman on Consol's front 4. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since he was playing on the interior instead of his more natural position of DE. That said, Gilbert and Goodman were more productive than him and more consistently disruptive in the backfield. Bynum was mostly double teamed all year and was still the most productive/disruptive of all the D-Lineman.

I'll give him that he is athletic as hell and has all the measurables. Obviously, that is what so many coaches are seeing (all the college interest). With good coaching, he could be a good player. Right now, from my perspective, he is not a "special" player. He needs to show some heart and step up his game this year.

Something never seemed right about this whole situation. He committed to Coach Sherman when he was a sophomore and living up north (massachusetts?). Then he moved to Texas, then he moved to College Station. Just seems weird. Was his family connected to Sherman somehow? This one just seemed a little strange from the outset.

What Rock said. I've never understood the early interest in this kid.

Some kids have all world measurables and are just average/better than average football players. Some kids have just better than average measurables and are flat out ballers.

Don't get me wrong, he has tons of potential but so far, "baller" is not how I would describe this kid.

He does have some legit offers whereas we have other commits with lower tier or no offers. Hopefully our coaches are just that much better at evaluating talent than every other coach in the FBS. I guess we will see about that. To me offer lists usually say a lot about what kind of prospect a kid is.
RockInspector
How long do you want to ignore this user?
He is actually pretty quick which is probably more important than straight ahead speed for a D-Lineman. Again, so far, it has not translated to productivity on the field.

Agreed. Still, the interest has got to be on potential because the on field results just aren't there. Most college coaches are arrogant enough to think they can make a raw beast into a player. Can't blame them though, the kid looks good on paper...hence the offer list.

I'm going to guess that Sumlin, Mack, Briles and Tuberville probably know more depth of info on Texas kids than most other programs: 1) Those in other areas have those other areas to focus on a lot, and 2) Other coaches in Texas probably don't have the resources or money to research and recruit as much as these four, and may or may not have the connections to maximize their time and effort.

I'd say the same thing for Miles in Louisiana, and Petrino in Arkansas, etc. Therefore, I'm more prone to trust Sumlin's early offers, especially with Texas having limited schollie numbers this year.

Hey, if it's true that Texas only has 13 schollies for 2013, shouldn't they be almost done with 11 guys? I know they can gray-shirt some guys, and then some Longhorns got pissy with me last week, insisting that they'll have closer to 20, as if I'd insulted or slighted their program with my 13 number that I got from Longhorn sources, for cryin' out loud.

agree with RockInspector..

productivity on the field hasnt matched the potential. not quite quick enough to play college DE yet, but not big enough or strong enough for college DT yet either. needs to improve in the weightroom and in the mental aspect of the game

Give his spot to someone else. If he tries to come back Sumlin should tell him "all full".

Typical sin. A guy decommits and suddenly he has a bunch of holes and reallys wasn't that good. He's doing everything the right way, so lay off. He committed to Sherm and stuck with it when Williams went to Oakland. He and his dad went to camput several tiems to meet with Price. At this point it appears as though he isn't comfortable with shutting it down and sticking with the Ags so he's decommitted. That is the propper way to do it rather than saying you are committed, but still taking visits.

If the staff thinks hes worth persueing then they will not give up on him.. Plenty of time to help the young man with his decision.. I have a feeling we wont be hurting with this one.. Tons of Juco/HS players still uncommitted up to this point.

One of the reasons recruiting rankings are worthless. Just watch how high previously unranked guys like Joas Aguilar and Wiggins rocket in his rankings next time they are updated. Go figure, fans want to read that their team is recruiting well.

Another reason I say looking at offer lists is best way to determine value of a prospect (for those of us that just follow recruiting casually anyway, obviously the best way is to watch game tape, visit the players, watch practice, etc.) There isn't much room for bias in offer lists.

I've had Consol season tickets for 8 years in a row.

He's a great kid and as a D lineman he is above average. In fairness, he was double teamed quite a bit this past year. But he definitely didn't wreck shop and raise any eyebrows. I'm neutral on losing or keeping him.
