Take this with a grain of salt. Saw this circulating on Twitter: according to the good for nothin' ole Chip Brown, A&M and Missouri will pay Big 12 a combined figure between $31 million and $34 million.

He is saying the top end payout could have been between $56 million and $60 million but a settlement has A&M and Mizzou paying between $15.5 million and $17 million to exit Big 12.

Again, huge grain of salt but thought I'd pass along the info.

My guess was around $15mm, so I wouldn’t be shocked if this is accurate. Well, other than, the surprise of the source being correct.

Is that 5.4 million dollars on top of the B12 withheld money or only 5.4 withheld from us?

That was leaked by Chimp Brown after "contact" with his "inside sources" at A&M regarding a confidential and closed door process. Chimp has absolutely not ****ing clue what he is talking about is just giving the retards who follow him something to talk about. Retards being the entirety of that abomination of a website that begins with an S and ends with an O.

I have a feeling A&M should be less because I think they were before the heavy penalty, and MU was after it.

I still think if Nebraska was the most valuable of the 4 to leave, then that should be the maximum the B12 can extort for any team, but that is just me.

Seems about right. WVU is paying something like $11MM to leave the Big East.

I don't think either side wants a long drawn out litigation where 2 state entities are suing each other. That's just a waste of state funding. Yes, even though it is the BigXII it will be viewed as Texas vs AnM and AnM will have legal costs that will cost the state money.

I think they probably came to an agreement to just keep the money that is due AnM and Mizzu this year and be done with it. You can't compare NU/CU exit fees to this because it's apples and oranges. Different situations, different amounts of money withheld, etc.

I don't know the exact breakdown but I would imagine that AnM will be paying a little more than Mizzu because AnM was going to get a larger payout this year. Probably somewhere around $18mil/$16mil. Of course, the reason the total is still unknown (between $31mil and $34mil) is probably because the year is not over yet and nobody knows what the final payout will be per team. Mizzu is likely to go far in the BBall tourney and if they do, they would likely earn a bigger payout.

I've never really understood this thinking. It's not like you don't have to pay it just because you don't write a check. NU and CU didn't write checks either. It still cost them money. As a matter of fact, if you had to write a check then it means that you would have at least had use of that money for a while. The fact that it was withheld means you never got it.

Look at it this way. If your boss told you he wasn't going to pay you your annual salary until the end of the year so you were just going to have to figure out a way to pay o your bills by borrowing money or something...then at the end of the year he said he changed his mind and wasn't going to pay you afterall...would you feel like you made out well just becuase you didn't have to actually write a check?

Wrong analogy.

Don't use base salary (which is paid regardless) as the comparison. Use commission that you would have earned through sales instead.

chip brown has a stellar record of accurate reporting.

It is nice to know that brown's rep is so bad that the whorn trolls have to create socks to post his drivel.

I'm sure all posters on this board understand that not getting money due is the same as paying out of pocket, but everyone also understands the need for the official wording to make it seem to the unwashed masses as though no money is in fact paid.

I believe the big 12 agreed to pay A&M at least $20M beebe bucks (pre exit fees withholding), right........

NU and CU paid in the neighborhood of 9. That's closer to where we will be.

The Big 12 agreed to pay A&M 20 million Beebe bucks which are worth less than the condom that broke producing socalorange.

It'll be less than 12 million and will be taken from TV money we would have received and split amongst the new conference members and the conference itself.

The money this is withheld however will be made up quickly by increased donations, ticket sales (long wait list for season tickets already) and income from the SEC.

All in all it will be a net gain for us. Sorry.

How about we pay the 9 million there giving to West Virginia and call it even.

If they don't like it, we could pay nothing.

These are the terms, take it or leave it.

So then just let the Big 12 keep the so-called $20 million Beebe bucks?

I don't know that commission is a good analogy. It's not like tv money is not critical to every athletic department. I imagine it's a pretty big chunk of annual revenue. Not sure what AnM's ath dept profits look like but with the vast majority of ath depts across the country losing money even WITH tv money, I imagine it's not easy for any school to just blow off $18mil or so. It's a fairly substantial hit. But it also could be that the SEC agrees to a loan if needed until you start getting the new tv money.

That's basically what the BigXII is doing with WVU. The BigXII is not paying for part of the BE exit fees, they are loaning it to them, to be paid back in full out of future tv revenue.

Didn't Brown claim that a non-disclosure agreement was signed? Isn't that not possible with two PUBLIC universities?

I would think you are right. Now both sides could refuse to release anything until a court tells them they have to. Which could be a while.

"If they don't like it, we could pay nothing."

Why can't you people grasp the fact that THEY ALREADY HAVE OUR MONEY?! We aren't going to write them a check, we're talking about how much the conference witholds from our share of the conference revenues, before we get a check for the difference.

So desperate for A&M to have to pay a big exit fee so they can feel better about themselves!

10-15 mil tops.

A&M would never and should never ask to borrow money from the SEC
SocalOrange
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Sorry if misunderstood. What I meant was the AnM/Mizzu payout split wold probably be about 18mil/16mil because I think that is "about" the amount each school would get this year. That's just a guess though and even the schools and BigXII themselves don't know for sure yet because the year isn't done. Hence the $31-$34mil range.

As far as the $20mil per year payout to AnM...that was not to go into effect until the 2012-2013 year so with AnM moving to the SEC before then, that obviously won't happen. AnM was to get roughly $17-18mil this year and then something maybe slightly lower next season (I'm guessing) because with equal revenue going into affect, AnM would probably take a slight reduction.

Curious, and I'm only asking because I dont' know and want to know, is AnM going to get a full share of SEC revenue next year or will you have to stagger in like most schools in new conferences?
