Anybody we add to the schedule for 2012 will have to come to Kyle. We only have 4 true home games right now.
Home/Shreveport with LaTech only makes financial sense for us if they give us 15-20k tickets to sell.
As for the SMU thing, the thinking was probably that a game at their stadium would play more like a neutral site because the stadium holds about 40k, and we could count on a third to a half being our fans.
That logic is stupid though, as seen from the baylor games. baylor always played more fired up against us, because it was the only time the stadium filled up, and the atmosphere was always more intense then their other games (this year excepted). The braintrust must have also thought that SMU fans would buy a bunch of tickets. Which is also false, since SMU fans are bigger vajeens then baylor's.
The bottom line is that we need to radically redo the future games we hav scheduled.
We need to dump:
-@SMU in 2014, which probably means we have to dump them at Kyle in 2013, or make them move the game in DFW back to 2015
-The game @USC needs to be played in 2015, or moved to another odd year
-The game at Oregon in 2018 needs to be moved forward to 2017, back to 2019, or dumped
We already play 5 away SEC games in even years (including @bama, @auburn, @SCar), which means we cannot play another game away, unless the SEC changes its scheduling framework. That must inform how we schedule going forward. If $B cannot wrap his mind around this concept, he must be put out to pasture.
