Not sure about exact stats because they often don't tell the entire story. However, ask any MSU fan and they pretty much all think very highly of him. He was co-defensive coordinator last year with Diaz and they roomed together and created our current defense. He is a really good recruiter as well. I honestly don't know why UT went after Diaz because Wilson was the more solid coach of the two in my honest opinion and they were both equally coaching the defense last year. We lost 3 players that are currently starting for NFL teams off that squad however have not missed a beat.

Would be sad to see him go, but I think it is a great thing that so many schools are trying to emulate what we have going on. Our other DC Coach Collins will be equally impressive. If Coach Wilson went anywhere I would like to see him at A&M. Like I said, a very solid pickup.

Keep in mind their offense TOP was putrid, worst in the SEC

Too many false rumors

Good point Brew, our defense had their backs against the wall many times and came up big. They were very impressive to me. I loved it when our defense was on the field. While losing several starters to the NFL, he had one hell of a DL to work with. Two future first rounders in the middle of the line will make any coach look good. Still extremely impressed with the job Coach Wilson has done.

Wilson Would be a good hire for A&M.

I would hire this guy! He is from Dallas and coached at OU! He has done well at MSU in the SEC!

How much will it take to get him?

I guess the connection is that he was at blow-u when Sumlin was there?

FYI....Coach Wilson and Coach Sumlin were both assistants at Oklahoma for a few years.

Sumlin knows how he coaches and they have some positive history so this isn't so hard to believe. MSU is paying Mullen a boat load so there probably isn't a whole lot left to pony up for the assistants.

I guess the one unsettling thing is that so far.....most on this thread approve of the hire so that will jinx it for sure.

Sometimes I think the Admin looks on here and goes the otherway. I can't understand why since Texags and specifically here in the Zoo is the preeminent consulting source for all of football!

A lot about this would make sense. He has recruited in LA extensively since his days at OU and undoubtedly established some ties in MS over the last couple of years.

tap the breaks a little...out of the 22 recruits he's responsible for landing, only two of them are 4 stars, and their avergae star rating is 2.77 ...I'd like to see a guy in the high 3s, for instance Mark Stoops average recruited star rank last year was 3.71, he was 4th in the country in scoring defense, 2nd in the country in run defense, and 18th in the nation against the pass, now those are some stats I can get behind

I'm interested to see them play tonight. Their depth chart shows a regular 4-3 base (2 DE's / 2 DT's / 3 LB).
