Red McCombs, Drayton McLane, Past Gov Mark White, and the Past Mayor of San Antonio Phil Hardberger,ran a full page ad in the AAS today urging that the B-12 be preserved, with a long list of what would be lost. McComb could make a case that he is a major owner of TU, so has a great deal of influence.

"AN OPEN LETTER FROM BUSINESS LEADERS CONCERNING THE BIG 12"

Last bold line:

"...what we have as a conference is not only worth fighting for, it's worth waging peace for."

I suspect they are hoping to pressure TU into making some last minute deal. I do not know if it ran in other major newspapers. Much too large for me to scan, but maybe someone else can do it.

1) just whining from cubs because they know no one wants their pathetic team or crazy ass "school" and so their gravy train welfare ride is over.

2) whether or not the Big 12 stays together is no longer an issue that involves Texas A&M. We are leaving for the SEC one way or another and there is literally nothing they can do to make us stay.

Jesus... This is what has concerned me the longer this drags on.

So, did McCombs offer to pull the plug on the LHN and endorse equal revenue distribution?

Frankly, I agree that a Big 12 conference is a better option than most of the other options being floated out there. However, the Big 12 I have in mind would include Tech, Baylor, ISU, Missouri, KU, and KSU from the current lineup, with the addition of TCU, SMU, Rice, Houston, and possibly Tulsa as football members, with Texas going indy in football but with all other sports in the Big 12. They could get a regional TV deal with that conference (not anywhere as good as the current deal, but a deal nonetheless), travel expenses would be kept to a minimum, and "sacred rivalries" would be renewed.

Legislators in Texas have already learned to stay out of the way or risk unemployment. Washington will learn the same.

The fact that these guys actually think that enough people still read a newspaper for that ad to make any difference demonstrates just how old and out of it they are.

An ad that read " Time has passed us by and we are completely out of touch with the reality of this situation." would have made the same statement.
