Ok, so of enough arguing over who you would rather see win in that other game, we need more threads talking about our game!!!!

Name the biggest 3 keys to victory for either team.

For the Ags...

1) time of possession is critical; we need long, time consuming drives to help out our D

2) establish a running game, per the above

3) special teams play; in particular, kick off & punt coverage. We can't keep giving teams a short field.

#1 Key: Score more points than the other team.

No turnovers for the Aggies = victory

I think our offense is functioning pretty well now and as long as we take care of the ball I think we win

I don't think long drives are completely neccasary.

We need to get out QUICK and FAST.

Colorado will be more comfortable, imo, if they can keep running the football. We start chruning out those long drives, make this a bogged down game, and Colorado can keep running the ball.

Get out QUICK. Get out FAST. Do what teams have done to us- take the opportunity to run the football away early!

1. Establishing a running game
2. Pressure on Colorado QB

To answer the OP's question.

1. Defense has to slow them down (I know obvious)

2. Consistent play from our O-Line

3. No turn overs.

Time of possesion will not be what wins this for the ags, if we can score consistently quickly and make them take six - eight minutes and end up with a few field goals and not all TD's we will be in good shape. Last I checked we are favored +3 and I think we should cover that easily.

1. Melt the clock
2. Bend but don't break on D
3. Recover CU fumble in OT

ok in all seriousness...if our offense keeps doing what they're doing (score and protect the ball), no lapses on special teams, and we can show signs of stopping the run then the good guys should win this

1. Stop the run. We need to make CU one dimensional. Their QB play is inconsistent and they will have problems matching us drive for drive.
2. Solid special teams. We don't need big plays here but we need to avoid giving them any.
3. Win the turnover battle.

If we do these three things, we win going away.

Why are people saying that we need to establish a run game? Missouri absolutely torched CU's secondary last week whereas their run defense is solid (see CU vs WVU).

It's all about strengths and weaknesses. Our gameplan should try to take away their strengths and make them play where they're weak.

CU has a solid running game and a very poor passing game (they're in the midst of a qb controversy with the coach's son no less). How do we exploit this? By forcing them to the air!

What we need to do is jump ahead quickly and force them to pass the ball. Make them a one dimensional team. This will also help our defense out because CU will make a lot of bad throws and basically give us a free pass on some downs.

It's asking a lot from our defense, but we need to get a few stops early and then punch it into the endzone a few times. If we can go into the half up 10-14 points (which isn't that outrageous), we will own the second half.

I think....

1) Establishing a passing game
2) Avoiding pressure on Texas A&M QB
3) Force lots of turnovers

1) Playing smart football with no turnovers and little to no silly penalties
2) Playing with emotion and passion for 4 full quarters
3) Establishing long controlled drives to eat up the clock
4) Score every time we get in the red zone
5) Apply pressure to Colorado's quarterback to force bad decisions and possibly turnovers on their part
6) Bottle up and contain Colorado's running game, as they have a couple of stud running backs, both of whom have different running styles
7) Get off to a good start and set the tone for the game early
8) Play inspired defense and attack the ball for the entire game
9) Coaches need to turn the players loose in this game

1st priority is to stop the run. If we do that we win. Alright stop might be a lil strong(Baby steps). Slow down the run.

there should be a rule that "score more points" can never be used as a key to the game. Thanks for the insight, you captain obvious posters out there.

or perhaps the question should be rephrased as "what are the keys to scoring more points than the opponent for this weeks game."

1) avoid turnovers
2) O line hold up physically
3) slow them down just enough

oh and 4) special teams dont blow it

The defense cannot be atrocious for an entire game, they have to play well enough in spurts to get some stops. So far they have forced 4 punts total in 4 conference games and were at their worst against Iowa State (zero). To win it's going to take some stops and hopefully a few turnovers.

Once again, not sure why people think we need to get out and grind out long, bogged down drives this game.

If you've done a little "homework", you'll find that's probably not the way you beat Colorado. They seem much more "equipped" to hang around in a game like that rather than a game where you try to get out quick and force them into a shootout.

Plus, TexAg2011, our offense is best when we score quick. We haven't been able to sustain long drives all season, so to gameplan for that now might not be the best idea.
