The two are good friends and Green reached out to our staff 2 weeks ago, about the same time Herschel Sims did.

Would love to land Green. Would be amazing if we could land 2 of Green, Sims, Williams (assuming the rumors of wanting to play closer to home are true) or Mason.

According to reliable sources the sip coaches have turned their attention to James Gray (2012) & are no longer in contact with Green.
According to sources that I do not personally know as well, neb would be a lock if they weren't bolting to the big 10.
I thought this thread was an absolute joke when originally posted, but I now think we might have about a 10-15% chance.

'reliable sources' don't exist in the mind of 17 year old recruits.

I will say this, recruits who Texas' offers that don't immediately accept seem to lose their offers in favor of some kid in later year because Texas 'doesn't compete' for recruits.

Laura, Green says differently.

Lucky for us, we got Malcolm Brown, Jackson Jeffcoat, Quincy Russell, Darius White, and Mike Davis giftwrapped!

Jeff, what I meant was sources that have connections, & have proven to be very reliable on all info that I have received fom them in the past. Nothing to do with 17 year olds.

Not to rain on your parade, but offensive skill positions are really not your immediate need. You need defensive difference makers in a big way. They seem to be running away from A&M. You can really not afford to have a down recruiting class when it comes to defensive.

When you are talking about the recruitment of some one who is 17 years old, I think that that persons mind is involved, and so saying that '17 year old's minds' is apt.

Meaning ... Aaron Green is 17 years, so he is a young guy. Can we agree on that?

17 year old's sometimes have a hard time choosing where they want to go to college.

Because of this they say lots of things during a recruiting process.

Therefore, until they sign on the dotted line ... no one is a 'reliable source'

Didn't want to bring this up but last year a 'reliable source' told all of us that Texas A&M "Is My Future". I still haven't seen that linebacker who I refuse to name suit up in the maroon and white.

So, like i said, there are no 'reliable sources' in recruiting.

Was that unnamed player the rule in your recruiting class or the exception? I might make a general judgment based on what the vast majority of verbal commits do rather than what the occasional one does.

My point is that there are 'sources' and 'reliable sources' ... and in recruiting there are only the former because we are dealing with young men who are making their first major life decision. Everything up until this point has been planned by someone else.

And don't say 'that guy' is an exception. We had 2 out of 25 do that to us last year alone. But that is have the fun... the not knowing.

Just don't come around here saying you have 'reliable' information when there really isn't any.

I mean, obviously somebody had 'reliable information' that Manziel was more interested in La Tech than us one day before he committed to us. It was on the site that we must not speak of.

RIP,

It is easy to point out the exceptions, but what about the hundreds of other cases. Your posts are always negative. You need to get an Ag tags before you start using the word 'we' on this site.

Yes Jeff, I also told anybody that would listen last year that the reliable source to whom you refer (the kid himself)was not reliable because he was saying what Aggies wanted to hear, but his actions (continuing to take other visits & fish for other offers) spoke louder than his words.
I am just another random poster on this site, so I don't expect you or anyone else to just unconditionally believe every word I write, but for those who might want to consider that I might actually have access to some inside info, I am saying that in this case my opinion has absolutely nothing to do with whatever the 17 year old is saying or thinking. Things change, but as of today I am saying that the sip staff has gone another direction & they do not feel that Aaron Green is where they want to spend one of their few remaining ships.
I chose to report my info here because it directly affects the speculation in this thread. The kid IS a phenominal athlete, so of course this could all change if they miss out on whatever targets they have decided to pursue, but as of 9/23/10 I truly believe that this info is correct.

My guess is that Mack offered, Green said he wasn't ready to commit and wanted to look around, and Mack has moved on...

His ego won't let him lose a recruit, so he pulls the offer if he can't get it on the spot.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I doubt Green's offer is pulled. Green is still being recruited, if he called the sips they would take his call in a heartbeat...... the sips just realize the odds are slim and aren't going to waste time when they can start fresh with Gray.

They got Brown, great get.

They still might try to get in on Williams or someone else.

From what I've read Williams is not on the table for UT. I don't know why - as many of the UT recruitnics are very high on him....but apparently the staff has decided he's no go.

Do hope we get Jonathan Gray next year - his film is absolutely ridiculous.

From what I've read the sip staff is afraid Brandon Williams won't stay in Austin. Bad family issues with a mom that completely relies on him. Their depth issues on OL and DL are compounded by two left for similar issues. Derek Johnson out of Ark and I can't remember the kid out of SA's name.

If Green isn't looking out of conference expect the sips to starting working on recruiting him and not just waiting on Gray next year.

I wasn't questioning that part Holden.

Cuttin through the chitter-chatter and back-n-forth

this I'm fairly certain of (personal opinion, intuition, experience, etc)

With Malcolm Brown committing to sips, A Green WILL NOT go to the dark side . . .

which means we have just as a good a chance (location, conference, etc) to nab him as others do

I go 50:50 on good guys getting him

Don't think formers (Chris Caflisch?) are not nudging on his shoulder.

If someone were to bet me the Ags wouldn't get Green (for big bucks), I wouldn't make that bet.

You are MOST WELCOME at Aggieland Mr Green!!

It would seem to me that its a competition of "best friend" influence from Johnny Manziel and "family" influence with his older brother, Andrew (DB), at Nebraska. My first thought was that with the Huskers moving to the Big 10 - and sooner than originally planned - that Aaron might opt to play closer to home.

HOWEVER, the some 1,600 mile roundtrip from San Antonio to Lincoln might be more palatable for the Green family if both sons were playing for the Cornhuskers. What's more, Bo Pelini has definitely rediscovered the running game in Lincoln, and that could be very attractive for a stud HS running back.

I would love for Aaron to seriously consider the Ags, but I just don't know. I think what's safe to say is that we are on his radar more than ever now that Manziel is on board.

If brother is already at Nebraska, why wouldn't the family just go see older brother and younger brother play on the same team.

Why would they split their travel, time and $$ on two different kids at two different colleges...

We'll see.

Any chance Manziel is Tommy Dorman part II??

Tommy was a 3-star, also. Correct? He was also a "gunslinger" in high school at a smaller school. Can anyone post his stats from his senior year as an A&M commit?

They wouldn't have to travel to Nebraska; all of their games will be televised.
