I have heard 3 very similar stories from a donor close(r) to the program than the average fan, an individual that works inside the 12th Man, and an unnamed individual whom you all would know.

You can believe what I'm about to say or not (its the internet and I'm a skeptical person too so I don't blame you) but I am just laying out there what I know.

Facts:

--Billy has had multiple conversations with Arkie since January. It was mainly with Pat Foster (friend of 25 years) but there was one other Arkie number on his cell phone records.

--Byrne DID IN FACT confront Gillispie about the records and Gillispie stumbled his way through the meeting.

--Byrne told him, "While we are appreciative of the work you have done, you are not the only good coach in America, and if you are serious about leaving, my coaching search starts NOW"

--Gillispie assured Byrne he would accept the contract.

--Gillispie was a little perturbed at the fact that some promises took a while to fill.

--FBCG and Byrne had a working relationship and not a personal one. When they talked, it was business, and nothing else.

--The rumor that they were not on speaking terms when he left is true.

--A plane came from Arkie to visit/pick up Gillispie but was not here very long and turned around.

--FBCG used Arkie as much, if not worse, than he used A&M. They were very confident he was coming and they should have been.

--The Regents and Ath Dept and FBCG have had a rocky relationship for a few weeks now regarding some issues.

--Byrne has a clear #1 and that #1 is Tim Floyd. He is going to throw the bank at him. No word on who else makes up the rest of the short list.

Anyone know what Floyd is making or why he might consider A&M besides money?

I've read this on other threads.

The big question I have is what went sour between BCG and A&M, and when? Or was it multiple things?

I'm beginning to think this guy is a tool.

I have heard lots about Tim Floyd but why would he come here. He has turned USC into a great program and has probably the best recruit coming in.

AgDotCom... it soured due to two things... the cell phone records and deceit (lies to Byrnes face) about the Arkansas job.

So some of the hogville posters actually did know stuff, back then. The BCG hire just got shot down when BB found out BCG was sneaking around behind his back flirting with Arkiesaw.

Boy the pigs have to be pissed at BCG. I will be rooting for the hogs when they play Kintuck next year.

When: right after the tournament (as in hours)

How: When Gillispie told Pat and one other Arkie booster that he was coming to UA in January.

Ball Gravy, I should have said "What went wrong between A&M and BCG that caused him to contact Arkansas in the first place"?

Was it the slower developing facilities? Something else?

If the former, you'd think the guy would have the sack to just man up and look Byrne in the eye and say "Do what you said you'd do, BB...or I'm gone", rather than sneaking around like a puzz.

Floyd would make me easily forget FBCG.

I just thought of this...you know how ppl are talking about DeAndre leaving to go with billy...well IF and thats a BIG IF we did get Floyd...could we have a shot at him bringing OJ Mayo? I dunno just thought it was cool. HAHA my mind is so fried from everything today. I'm just randomly thinking of stuff.

I almost feel bad for Arkansas.

If we land any of: Floyd, Kruger, Dixon, Marshall I would be very happy.

If Byrne goes after Floyd, he better do it quietly, because we are likely to get shot down. I don't want other great candidates backing away because they end up being #2.
Byrne has a habit of going after coaches he doesn't have a shot at...Dave Van Horn in baseball, Adam Steinberg in tennis.

That was the main part. The facility was supposed to be done last year. FBCG was upset about that.

The rumor that he was going to leave because of attendance is hog wash. That wasn't near the top.

Why would we have access to his cell phone records? Even if we paid his bill, it seems that the bills would be sent to him and he would expense it each month..

Don't know if that stuff is true, but it sounds reasonable.

As for coaches leaving with great recruits coming in, let me point out 2 things...

1. They are likely (especially Mayo) to only stay one year. Coaches usually think longer term than that.

2. We just watched a coach leave with a great recruit coming next year.

For the sake of clarification, how did they have access to his personal cell phone records (or why would he make this on an A&M issued phone--I have no idea how these things work)

Its not hard to get cell phone records, especially since he was using a phone that the university paid for.

i hope bb started his search right after bcg didnt reach for the pen to sign the contract

Byrne always has a short list of potential replacements... always!

Byrne is not reactive like most ADs... he is very proactive.

Yeah I guess, it just seems the normal setup would be to have the cell phone account in Billy's name and have him pay the account with an A&M credit card account/expense account card..

If that's the case, it seems weird at least to me they would be able to get the records. But maybe the set-up was different..

If this whole story is true, I don't see him lasting long in D1 NCAA basketball.

I have contacts inside athletics too and I will bet you, right now, $500 bucks that Tim Floyd is way, way down the list.

He probably turns in his cell phone bill with expense receipts. I do at my work.
