Just an observation. I don't believe there was 11,000 at thegame. I was in sec 220 and it was less than 50 %.
The student body showed up with more than the allocated seats but the support from the Bryan CS community was lacking.

There was absolutely no noise from our section.
We really don't appreciate what Billy has brought to A & M.

I drove down from Dallas for the game, and was really surprised at the attendance. It says there were over 11,000 there, but I don't see how that is possible with all the empty seats. I don't want to turn this into a rant over attendance post... just was surprised with the success of our team this year... and it being a big 12 game - even if it was just Iowa St

The problem is what it is. Even though we have 45,000 students. We only have about 20-25k interested in sports and of those I would say nearly half are only interested in football. So, you have about 10-15k that are die hard sports fans, but life happens and many of those have to pay their way through schools with jobs, etc, etc. As crazy as this sounds I think we have multiple years of success, you will start having high school students that are nuts about basketball actually choose to come to A&M just because of a great basketball program (along with great academics of course). As far as the community, a mid-week game against ISU is just not going to get people to break their routines. Especially in a conservative religous community that has a lot of church functions on Wednesday nights. Other schools like UNC and Duke, and all those powerhouse schools simply have way more people within a 20-30 minute driving distance then we do. And many of those people are alumni of those schools. When B/CS reaches about 250,000 this problem goes away.

ticket prices went up and a ton of locals dropped out.

it doesn't seem tough, but byrne has to be smart and realize with a 6.40 tip, you're going to be relying on the bcs people to carry the load.

i wouldn't dog the locals. they were some of the only fans in the dog days.

honestly that's kinda stupid, those jackholes who were in line for tickets probably could have gone to the game, but it wasn't a priority, then texas comes along, the greatest atmosphere in any sport around here, and they decide to show up, those folks could have filled up reed, those people make me sick

"those jackholes who were in line for tickets probably could have gone to the game"

I was wondering what the total number might have been with all the "pre-line" students in attendance at the basketball game instead of hanging out waiting for pull to begin. Would there have been a way to reward those students at the Iowa State game with priority for the Texas ticket pull?

There were not many people that skipped the game to join the pre-line...We left Reed as soon as the game was over and the line was short when we got in it. I would say I could count the number of game-skippers on my fingers.

This may be erroneous, but is it possible that there are so many season tickets being sold to Ags outside of the CS area, that they have to pick and choose the week night games they come to? If the reported attendance was 11,148 but there wasn't that many there, is that not the answer? And, if this is so, isn't the problem one of getting already sold tickets to people who could possibly put butts in seats? Sounds like a minor task for a school who can get 80,000 colored t-shirts to people and in the correct seats in less than a week.

Hating people for wanting to go to the best sporting event of the year instead of a blowout game against Iowa freaking State is rediculous. I'm glad it makes you sick, though, because I doubt any of those people lost any sleep over your feelings.

IO drive in from Houston to every game. I don't think the merchants in B/CS do enough to buy tickets .If you go to Clemson there are a lot less people in the local community that go to the games.

At the end of the day when a North Calorina or Indiana or Wisconson comes calling Bg will be out of here.

Why do so many people have a problem spelling the word "ridiculous?" It's just, well, rediculous.

People have waited for years and years for a solid product on the floor and they REWARD BCG and the team with a couple of thousand empty seats. IF BCG does go elsewhere at some point if defintely will not be because of money. It's because the #8 ranked team in the country can't fill up Reed for a conference opponent.

Either he will leave b/c of empty seats...or he was sick and tired of the incessant whining over everything...or people trying to put words in HIS mouth to prove THEIR point (like i just did).

Keep up the whining...i mean, good work.

I am so sick of you dumbasses *****ing about this. Gillispie is happy; he has said so on numerous accounts. The entire *$&*$# community is not going to get up for every game. People have lives! Not everyone lives and breathes basketball. That doesn't mean they don't support the team, but you clueless morons who keep saying Gillispie is going to leave need to find something else to whine about. Honestly, it's like listening to a Kindergarten class.
