Anyone ever stayed there? We're looking for a cheaper place on the strip and this looks like it might meet our needs. How is it? We're looking for a place close to Paris (friends staying there)

strip-wise, i am thinking that is about the cheapest you are going to find it! They seem to always be the cheapest people on the strip. But also, they are not going to be the highest quality either. If you are just looking as a place to catch a few zzz's, then they should be fine. Good location.

the appearence of IP is kinda shady in comparison to the others, however, you should be good to go since you are even asking about that place.

I stayed there about 5 years ago. It's not a place that I would stay at again unless I had to. It's fine for sleeping and gambling but there isn't a whole lot to do there. The night life isn't really there and there is not going to be a hip crowd to drink with or a club to find some ladies.

It is what it is. Cheap.

I work for a pharma co and we had a meeting at the MGM a few years ago. Well, the genius event planner booked us a luau at the IP and I have to say it was the worst company sponsored event I have ever been to. Flies on the crappy food, crappy service and even crappier atmosphere. Crap Crap Crap.
I would recommend staying downtown - cheap and pretty cool.

It's Vegas. The only thing you should be doing is sleeping & gambling. I love the IP, old school.

Great if you don't care much about your room. Location is awesome.

Casno Royale should also be looked at.

Some of our guests stayed there for our wedding in April. They werent in the rooms much either, but the rooms were still kinda gross. Also the service wasnt great either. The location cant be beat though because its pretty much right there in the middle.

There are two elevators that service the entire hotel. That is the most frustrating thing of all time.

Although when you at the elevators and you go around the corner you find a third elevator that nobody knows about. There could be a hundred people in line for the main elevators and nobody at the third one.

Shhhhhhhhhhh......... Don't tell anyone!

Not that I ever stay there anymore. Strictly Hard Rock now.

EDIT: Don't bother doing the 20 dollar tip there. All they do is give you a room with a hot tub type of bathroom. Kinda Lame. Just a tub with jets in it. Not really worth the 20 dollars.

I've stayed there about 10 times. The best looking waitresses on the strip. Very laid back and quiet.

I stayed there the first time I went to Vegas.

I hated it. Just hated it.

You can stay at the Excalibur for not much more.

I just got back from staying at the Imperial Palace and thought it was just fine. I guess right now isn't too busy in Vegas so I didn't have any problems with the elevators. But, my room was clean, quiet, and non-smoking. For only 29 bucks a night, you can't beat that.

depends on your needs.

a bed: check.
location: check.
hip pool: no.
good sports book: no.
hot clubs: no.
a burger king next door: check.

if you are just looking for a place to crash and not worried about pool time, then IP is fine.

I love the balconies & the luv tubs. The PH suites are good for get togethers. Decent selection of slots and very easy to obtain comps. The Teahouse and Pizza Palace are the only edible places to eat, besides grabbing a salad at Betty's. Decent room for the price and location. Just go in expecting Motel 6 type of rooms and you'll be fine.

Vegas is really hurting right now. If I were you, I would call up one of the mid-priced places (Bally's, Flamingo, etc., both good locations mid-strip and close to Paris) and ask to speak to a casino host. Tell them your dates and ask what they can do for you. Can't hurt and you might get a better room and better location for almost the same price.

Only go to IP if you are poor and like the smell of soy sauce that reeks throughout the place.

If you just need a place to sleep on the strip go with the Barbary Coast over the IP. But as others said you can get a nice room for under $150 a night on the strip most of the time these days.

Had a room at IP when I was in Vegas for the Holyfield fight a few years ago.

My advice is to not worry about the stupid room. If you go to Vegas correctly, you won't spend more than a few hours in your room, and you won't be awake.

you can get a good room at most of the MGM properties for under $100.

IP ia the cheapest of the Harrah's IIRC.

Spend what you want on the room, but keep in mind, as several posters have said, you probably won't be in the room that much.

Couldn't agree more Exhausted - and with just a little searching you can find much better places for the same price or less right now.

I was looking for deals for late June/early July, and believe it or not, I have not found that many good deals. (granted, I have been looking for weekend dates)

By that token, I have no issue with staying at cheaper strip hotels, ie: IP

By staying at a cheaper/less nice place like this it'll make staying at the nicer hotels the next time you go that much sweeter.

Besides sleeping and hanging out at the pool(if you want) you probably won't be spending much time at all at the actual hotel you are staying at.

txag,

Check out Casino Royale.

Great location, which is its only selling point, and they know this.

Rooms for under $100 all the time. Right across the street from Caesars and close to Flamingo and Harrahs.

Casino Royale has also recently renovated their rooms. They look pretty decent. Too bad their pool is lame.

Who cares about the pool?

I think I've gone swimming once in Vegas, at that was at the Garden of the Gods pool at Caesars.

Guys are only going to care about the pools that feature European sunbathing, i.e. topless women.

Reminds me of my first trip to Simi Valley to do some work at Countrywide. The hotel I stayed in had these bathtubs with jets in the middle of the room. I thought it was weird. I found out years later (on another trip to Countrywide) that that hotel was notorious as an afternoon hook-up location. It doesn't really tell you that when you book it on Travelocity.

I think the only way I could put my body into a tub like that would be to fill it up and add a gallon of bleach, run the pump for about 2 hours, drain, repeat. then fill it for a soak.

....or if i were really, really drunk.

Stayed there a few years ago and it was disgusting. The rooms were not clean. The first one we got had hair all over the bathroom floor (probably pubes) and questionable stains on the comforter. We upgraded to a more expensive room hoping it would be better but it was just as bad. Spend a little extra and stay somewhere that isn't likely to give you an infection of some sort.
