looking at taking a trip with the wife to Belize in June. Need recommendations are where to go, places to stay, things to do, etc. Based on my searches today I've found Caye Caulker and basically being an island rat for 5-8 days.

If you decide to do the jungle side, we stayed here and it was amazing:

Headed to Hopkins Village in June. Looked like a nice place on the beach with easy access to inland excursions. My first trip to Belize so I am pretty excited to see how it compares to other places/beaches I have visited.

lived in Belize for a few years on Turneffe, made a few trips to San Pedro and Cay Caulker.
a good nice place to staty in San Pedro is Mata Rocks. real clean and a short bike ride to the "tourist" section of San Pedro. Caye Caulker is very relaxed, i am sure things have changed since we were there 5 years ago but i am sure it has the same vibe.

if you stay in San Pedro, you must take the day long catamaran trip w/ Seaduced Belize. worth every penny

My wife and I honeymooned on Maya Beach on the Placencia Peninsula in Southern Belize. We rented a 3 bedroom house right on the beach for 10 days - ended up coming out to $140 a night. It was awesome - secluded, but with Placencia Village about 6 miles away. The owners were great to work with, and the family that they have managing the house makes sure you have everything you need.

We've been to AC 4 times and spent a couple nights on CC. Caulker is very laid back. Spent nearly a week without ever putting on shoes, flip-flops included.

I wouldn't consider either island a true beach environment ad both are behind the reef and beaches are sparse.

another vote for Victoria House in San Pedro/Ambergris Caye.

With that said, SP/AC is not as secluded as if you go south.

Also, OP mentioned they have been to Mexico and would like to try something different. If so, won't you have already done the beach thing in Mexico? Like to know what you don't want to do?

Belize has a lot of jungle stuff to offer as day trips if you are interested.

If I decided on Victoria House, would I fly into Belize intl then take a puddle jumper to San Pedro? For some reason Belize has me intrigued as a vacation spot.

You can take a puddle jumper or a ferry. The plane takes 10-15 mins instead of the 1.5 hour ferry ride. I would suggest the plane.

Plane vs ferry depends a lot on what you want to do, IMO. I personally enjoy the ferry ride. Can't complain too much about spending 90 minutes cruising over some of the prettiest water on the planet. The plane ride is cool too though. Just a personal preference.

The flight on the little Cessna looks pretty cool! And it's only $62.50!

GF and I are going in a couple of weeks. Staying at Tranquility Bay Resort. 5 nights, 6 days.

I'm sure we will do some snorkeling, fishing, kayaking, eating out. Any recommendations on restaurants and bars that would be close to this resort? Anything else we might need to know. TIA
