I will be up in Breckenridge for the first time ever next week and looking to do some fishing, hiking etc. Does anyone have some pointers on good fishing spots to hit or nice trails? What else is good to do in town during the summer?

As of now our only plan is to enjoy the cool weather.

From my experience of going up to Breck, its easy talking to some of the local guys running shops - they usually have a lot of great suggestions. I've only been in the winter, but I know there is some fantastic hiking, fishing and rafting.

There has been a lot of flooding in the Breckenridge area lately, not sure how that is affecting the fishing but it got the golf course pretty bad. I would definitely talk with some locals when you get there and see where it is biting. The high water could be an issue.

We rented Jeeps and took them along the mining roads all through the mountains around Breck and Keystone. It was awesome.

BTW, Breckenridge Ski Resort has a facebook page with a few things to do in the summer.

I was just there this last weekend. If you like to hike/climb you could travel about 20 min to Alma, park at Kite Lake and do 4 fourteeners in one day if you are up to it:

Mt. Democrat
Mt. Cameron
Mt. Lincoln
Mt. Bross

We did Lincoln and Bross on Saturday but we parked on the back side of Bross and logistics of that didn't allow us time for all four.

I wish I could remember who it was. I believe we found them in some brochure or something we picked up there in Breckenridge. It was a few years ago though. I will try to look through my stuff or online and see if I can find anything.

They had snow tubing on Peak 8 the last time I was there, but that was July 1. It's probably gone by now.
