I just read that I can't mail my passport to the Brazilian consulate in Houston for a visa but have to show up in person or use a third part visa service. Showing up in Houston is not exactly an option, so can anyone recommend a visa service company in Houston to do this through? Also, how long does getting a Brazilian one usually take?

Shouldn't take too long. I live in Houston, so I just went straight to the consulate. I wasn't there for more than 30 minutes. Going for work or pleasure? I went to Rio back in September of 2010 with a couple of friends to Rio (one of them rotates down there with Devon Energy) and had an absolute blast! I remember my buddy saying that those passport services have pretty quick turnaround as well. Have fun.

Going for fun...hitting up Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Brazil...spending a month down there.

I loved Uruguay, aside from the cab ride in Montevideo, since they don't have lanes on the roads.

Lanes are overrated anyways

I used total visa to get my business visa for Brazil last summer.

I believe it took about two weeks to get it back and that was during the world cup.
