versailles - its hard to explain the "hugeness" of that place. i think it was an hour train ride or so.

paris rules - have fun. drink some cafe cremes and eat some le petit baguette for us. no such thing as too much le petit pichets also.

Maybe Angers? Just past Nantes. Home to the Cointreau Distillery. :-)

Any of the towns in Normandy...although this time of year, the weather might be meh.

Just got back from Paris in November though, you will have a great time.

You might try Reims. About an hour and a half ENE. The home of champagne. Also, some good foie gras.

French Ag here.
The daytrip to Normandy is the best I'd say. The towns (honfleur, deauville) and obviously the beaches (pointe du hoc, colleville sur mer) are must see.
Lyon is only 2h away with the tgv. Great city and food.
That would be my top 2, esp if you can sleep there.

Go to Normandy, preferably at low tide, walk to the water's edge and turn around. Hands down one of the most awe inspiring moments of emotion/history/etc...

+1 to Normandy. Especially visit the American Cemetery.

Every American should visit Normandy and every Aggie should go to Pointe du Hoc. Just my opinion.

Versailles is wonderful--expect large crowds.

And +1 for Honfleur. Plus we enjoyed Monet's Gardens in Giverncy (I don't think I spelled that correctly and I know I can't pronounce it correctly).

You can't miss Versailles and +2 on Reims. Of course I love champagne, so that might have skewed my enjoyment.

We actually did a day trip to London as well. that was probably a bit crazy though
