Looking to go for about 5-7 days to a Caribbean all inclusive, want something really nice. Bermuda, Bahama, Aruba, St. X, etc

Anyone have a can't miss?

Want a nice room, killer beaches, good/great food. Don't need many excursions.

Was thinking about November/December, if that was still a nice time.

FYI - November is still Hurricane season

It is incredibly rare to see hurricanes in November, though it is technically still hurricane season.

Someone has never heard the old Caribbean hurricane rhyme:

June- too soon.
July-- stand by!
August-- look out you must.
September-- remember.
October, all over.

November didn't even make the rhyme.

While Hurricanes in November are not as common as other months, to say they are extremely rare is incorrect. And a storm does not have to be a hurricane to cause major problems.

Fine. I'll change it to "rare" from "extemely rare", but my underlying message is still the same: don't let hurricane fear-mongering and paranoia in any way dissuade you from booking a Caribbean trip in November/December.

Stupidisme meant this sandals property:

One of the top Caribbean Resorts and definitely the best Sandals property.

40% there will be a tropical storm or hurricane in November. May not be near where you are going, but if that is rare than so be it.

For anyone that has traveled during this time of year to the Caribbean knows, the weather is rainy and cloudy half the time.

I do not travel there in the fall not just because of the storm warnings, but because I think the weather sucks then.

I'll second Peter Island; we loved it on our honeymoon last year. It's not all inclusive alcohol, but we wouldn't have more than 1-2 drinks a day anyway, and you can often get a pretty good deal.

Easy to get to, several beaches, great food, great all-around experience.

We got stuck in Puerto Rico on the way there, and I fully expected to be charged for the night we reserved but couldn't make, and I didn't make any mention of it while we were there, but at the end their final bill for us didn't have that night on it. I think a lot of places would've still charged for a half-night or something, but that impressed me.

Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Just got back last week - amazing.

Atlantis isn't all inclusive though is it? Wife wants to go there, so we may do Riu next door. Personally I want something smaller and more low key than Atlantis.

WOW. Jumby Bay looks incredible.

You can't go wrong with any of the Rosewood properties in the Caribbean. In addition to Jumby Bay, there's Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda and Caneel Bay on St. John.

www.rosewoodhotels.com/hotels_resorts.cfm

We've been to Caneel and loved it and my buddy did his honeymoon at LDB and they enjoyed it there too.

Caneel wasn't a true all-inclusive, but you can buy the meal plans to make it so if you want. Obviously, liquor isn't included.

If your wife wants to do The Bahamas, check out One & Only Ocean Club on Paradise Island. It is much more intimate than Atlantis.

oceanclub.oneandonlyresorts.com

They filmed parts of Casino Royale there, I believe.

Not many tips to give, but the food is pretty decent, but the service is top notch. They really do go out of thier way to make your stay as good as it can be. If you like having a floatie in the pool to lounge in, I would bring one if you can. The golf course is pretty damn easy too. Room service is slow. Other than that, it is an amazing place.

i cant recommend JB enough.

highlights from our trip included:

the rooms - get one of the octogon suites

the bicycles were a neat novelty

the food - outstanding; the drinks - outstanding (Macallan, Goose); the cost - included

ordering a bottle of champagne at dinner to have delivered to the room - nightly - and included

met an old-man porn mogul and his task appropriate wife

DeNiro and Chevy Chase were there the week before. thats how we roll.

cheapest room at JB is $1250 a night (2 people, all inclusive). I just can't bring myself to shell out that much money.

still haven't settled on anything. the negative Trip Advisor reports that everyone has is a real turn-off.

Haha, is the "old man porn mogul" one of the guys w/ a house on the island that comes over to the estate house to drink some insanely expensive cognac? I think I talked to the same guy one night.

Cant please everybody, especially in the travel biz. Every resort will have negative reviews. Just look for ones with few and far between....

A lot of those are made up by competing resorts.

Had some friends of ours honeymoon here and said it was pretty much the best place.

Hubby and I tried to go here for our honeymoon but couldn't get a return flight off the island until about a month and a half later.

You might need to define what "really nice" means to you. $1200/night for 2 all-inclusive in the Caribbean isnt bad for a high-end place.

Maybe you just mean a place that is middle of the road like Sandals or Beaches, etc.

If cost is an issue, you might consider Mexico. Its much easier to get to and more bang for your buck than the Caribbean. Dont get snooty with Mexico, its where the wealthy Europeans go to vacation, they dont have the negative presumptions Americans do, and not everything is like the Spring Break party hotels in Cancun..

We stayed here on our Honeymoon and dont regret anything, except not getting a top-floor room.. http://www.zoetryresorts.com/paraiso/index.html

I agree with BOM, I have stayed at several REALLY nice resorts in Mexico and you get way more stretch for your money than in the Caribbean. Plus airfare is almost half when flying down to Mexico and you are there in 2 hours versus 3 hours to Miami then 2 more hours to some island. My experience with 5 star all-inclusive resorts in Mexico Rivera Maya(at least 4 different ones) has been the best vacations (as far as relaxation, peace, food and drink) that I have ever been on.
