Looking at going to ruidoso in early june with my dad. probably going to hit up the races and casino. where is a good place to stay a couple of nights? also what are the good eating hot-spots? any other must see places/things? havent been there in about 15 years so any other advice would be great. tia.

my wifesw family has a condo up there, so I cant really help you on places to stay.

As far as the rest, inn of the mountain gods is a hell of a lot better casino than the other one because of the tables and slots are generally better.

As far as places to eat....a good bar/restaurant is Farleys which has some decent food and beer. A decent NM Mexican restaurant is Casa Blanca. I dont tend to eat downtown because i think it is overpriced....

Ate at K-Bobs one night and a burger joint in town. I'm from West Texas so eating at K-Bobs brought back a lot of memories. Lot's of places to eat in town but if I remember right a lot of places close around 9PM so eat early.

holy ish i haven't heard "k-bob's" in forever. home of the $2.99 chicken fried steak.

Inn of the Mt Gods is a pretty nice place, although I think the payout on the slots is much lower than a lot of places.

I ate at a little place on the main street that was really good. It was a Mexican place that looked like a place for the locals. Was a white building...I'm sure that has really narrowed it down!

Eat at The Lincoln County Grill. Great breakfast and good burgers, etc. Another really good breakfast is The Log Cabin. Right by the Post Office on highway to Alto.

Rent a cabin in the Upper Canyon. Much more relaxing.

For a really nice meal (and fairly expensive), try Wendell's at Inn of the Mountain Gods.

Farley's has a good chicken fried steak, or at least they did in the late 90s when I used to ski/snowboard out there.
