Specifically I am looking for a real nice, upscale Cajun or French restaurant (or has both) for my wife and I to go to. Pricewise it can be up to $150 to $200 per person all in with wine/drinks. Would prefer a calmer atmosphere.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Commander's if you have never been. If you have been and are looking for something different I like Restaurant August as well

Definitely either the Commander's Palace or Bayano's (in the Quarter). Bayano is classy, upscale with great food

arnaud, Mr. B's and cuvee and are three others you should consider.

i'm from new orleans, and would go with August personally. but you won't regret any of the places mentioned.

Commanders Palace ask for the Garden Room.
Galatois: try to get downstairs and we found it a blast on Friday lunch when all the power people are dining with their secretaries.
Clancys is great and as stated above John Besh and Susan Spicer establishments are fantastic.

From someone that lives in NOLA, I would go to Clancy's and eat upstairs. Downstairs can get a little loud if you are looking for something on the calm side. Take a cab there and ask the driver to take you down St. Charles if you haven't been through that side of town. Can't go wrong with Commander's either.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looks like there are a few good ones to choose from (as I expected).
