My wife and I are staying in the French Quarter. Need some ideas for places to eat and drink. Also, must see places i.e museums or something like that. Thanks in advance

Eats in the quarter:
stella, nola, court of two sisters, arnauds, bayona, acme, stanley, brennans for brunch.

drinks in the quarter:
goldmine, kerrys, lafittes, pat o's, funky pirate, port of call, old absinthe, dba, club decatur, pravda

You have to take a few spins at the Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone.

Grab a drink or five at Johnny White's on Bourbon Street. It's the only bar that stayed open during Katrina. The bartenders there have all kinds of stories to tell.

You'll walk past the Cathedral several times, so take a minute and walk inside. It's worth checking out.

+1 for having drinks at the circle bar just inside the front doors of Hotel Monteleone

Eat at Mothers, drink, gamble, stay up all night. Not that difficult.

The National World War II Museum is pretty neat.

Preservation Hall if you like jazz or blues

Brigtsen's pecan pie being excellent, though I guess it would be hard to just pop in there for a slice of pie. This pie was on the Best of show on the Food Network.

Camellia Grill was also on the Food Network.

Goldmine!

For breakfast, skip Brennans and go to Camilia Grill

I second Mothers. Order the "debris" sandwich. Also, if you have a hurricane and a hand grenade, you will probably just sleep right there on Bourbon Street. LOL.

You have to have some beignets (powdry pastries!) at Cafe du Monde and then check out St. Louis Cathedral.

If you want to do something different and fun, walk down to Mulates (Julia Street across from the Marketplace that also has a nice Riverwalk). Mulates has great cajun food and live cajun music. It is fun!!

Ritz-Carlton on Canal St has live jazz and dancing on the second floor. We just walked right in and took the elevator up. Drinks are expensive but good.

The hand grenade WILL blow up on you. There was New Orleans place down on 6th Street in the late 90's and my wife (which was my gf at the time) on only our 2nd date, took me to Sixth Street to celebrate my 21st B-day. She had a hand grenade and I ended up having to carry her to her dorm when we got back into town. We celebrated our 11th Anniversary on Sat. so it all worked out well. LOL.

Thanks for the tips. We are headed there this Thursday. My wife is finishing the bar exam Thursday afternoon and I'm sure the hand grenade's will do the trick.
