The Arizona State course is an interesting course. It is located across from the University.

Lots of great golf in Scottsdale.

Troon North was definitely one of the best courses I've ever played. It was very well kept and had a great layout. And in the summer the rates get very cheap for what you get to play. I would highly recommend.

if you want exciting tee shots off varying elevations try dinosaur mountain near Apache Junction.

To name some other as well as some said before you can try, ASU (never a level lie), Troon North (have not played here yet), Grey Hawk (very nice), TPC Scottsdale (play the 16th the loudest hole in golf), Las Sendas (extremely challenging), Ocotillo (lots of water), and I am sure there are others that I cant think of right now.

I agree with all of these suggestions. I'd make one additional though.

If you are in Scottsdale, I'd go to City Hall for a steak. I've been to Steakhouses all over the country and I have never had a better meal than I did there.
