We're staying at a Bed & Breakfast in Fredericksburg on the nights of July 3rd and 4th as a pre-wedding getaway.

What are some ideas for things to do in the area during the day on the 4th and 5th?

TIA!

confession...

seriously though: e-rock, a winery, there a butterfly garden up the road, the main drag is a good touristy place with lots of shops and what not.

great biking on some winding back-country roads. Stop in the bike shop in town and they'll point you in the right direction.

Yeah, you know...a break from wedding planning and all of that jazz. It'll be two weeks before the wedding, and we'll probably be sick of talking wedding details for a couple days.

Haha...it's like opening one or two of them in mid-December.

I think 10 days in Hawaii will still be plenty fun.

What/where is some of the better German food?

That's one of the main things that my fiancee wants to do while we're there...do Willow Creek and Hill Top serve good German food (heck, I'm not even sure what all that includes...)?

Ok, gotta go to the Museum of the Pacific. Allow several hours, it's an excellent museum. Hard to believe it's in the middle of a little town like that. Most of the restaurants on Main Street are fine - nothing super special, but not bad either. Definitely drive out to The Hilltop Cafe, you might need reservations if it's a weekend. Do Enchanted Mountain. It's anice small park that you can spend the day in, or just a few hours to hike to the top of the rock. They do limit the number of people into the park, so, on a busy morning, you will have to wait for people to leave before you're allowed in.

The Johnny Cash Cover Band that played some shows in College Station will be playing at the Brewery on the night of the 4th, good beer and good music if you like Johnny Cash

the Hill top has some foo foo cuisine stuff, not German food, but dang its good. Expensive but good.

Last time we were there, across the street from the Fredricksburg Brewery is a little German joint that has some good German food. Sausage sauerkraut and all that stuff.
I think this is it
