I'm disappointed in myself to say that I never went to see the Negro Leagues museum. I was always interested but just never got around to it. If you're into jazz, there's some nice places around Vine, not far from the original Arthur Bryant's. I respectfully disagree on Jack's Stack versus Oklahoma Joe's, but Oklahoma Joe's is good too. I think it's a solid third (huge drop to fourth), but it's also pretty out of the way to get to and from if you're only in town for a short time. Just to emphasize something above, if you have kids Union Station is hard to pass up. They've got a pretty cool kids' area there. I was never into shopping or the arts, so I for the most part stayed away from the Plaza and things like the Nelson-Atkins art museum. Some people love it though. There's another history walking area through Loose Park near the Plaza, but there's not a whole lot to it - nice park though. Chiefs fans are nuts as far as NFL fans go, though maybe not so much now that they've been down a few years. The whole Legends area out by the Speedway has lots to do: Cabela's, minor league baseball, a dinosaur restaurant for kids, a good number of solid restaurants, and I always enjoyed Nebraska Furniture Mart. That place is insanely huge and will provoke you to jealousy if you ever go shopping for furniture elsewhere in the future.
I can't really speak much to the bar scene. Westport would kind of be their Northgate meets Sixth Street area at night but isn't much of anything during days or weekday nights. The Plaza has several higher end places, though not a lot of activity.
On the religious side, the Unitarian church is based out of Unity Village a little east of town. You've got an off shoot of the Mormon church that broke off on their way to Salt Lake city based out of Independence - complete with their own temple. It was open for tours for a while, but that was a ways back now. There's a fairly major modern charismatic movement in the southeast corner of town. Depending on how you view it as to whether it belongs here, the Freemasons have at least one dedicated cemetery and a couple pretty interesting buildings, but there's not much to them beyond a quick drive by.
