Score--SMU-21 TCU-10. I realize that this is echoing the obvious but TCU beat Oklahoma and SMU beat TCU. I hope our Aggies realize that when they take the field against SMU next Saturday, they cannot expect to 'show up' and be awarded the game. I don't expect that to happen but if it did, it would be a da-m good way to start the season at 0-2.

If we can't just "show up" and beat SMU.... at home.... then this program isn't nearly as far along as it should be.... and we should consider some major changes.

And I'm not talking about lineup changes.

SMU will not be a challenge @Kyle. A&M WILL be dominant, not a doubt. This game might have been tricky before the Clemson loss, but now the Aggies will be out to murderize the next 3 opponents for revenge.

A&M has a lot to prove between now and T-day. Especially game planning and adjustment. Time for some coordinators to earn their pay.

Their RB, DeMyron Martin is a guy that we wanted. He had over a hundred on the ground and 3 total TD's vs. TCU.

I think the moral of the iron skillet game last night was: don't overestimate tcu.

If there's anything we should have learned from the last Baylor game until now is that no game is easy. Any team can beat any other team any where at any time.

If we dont dominate this next game, im honestly not watcing any more aggie football this season, because it will get ugly.

Your 2nd string would cover the spread vs. SMU. PUUULEEEEASSSSEEE!!!

If I were an Aggie fan the goals for Saturday are simple.

No injuries, work out a few kinks, show nothing for CU to get a look at.

You will win by whatever margin you want.

Any talk of struggling in this game is akin to the worries prior to Wyoming last year. This wil be the same result.

Our paper did not cover the game--how did they do it. Was the TCU QB hurt? Fluke turnovers?

There has to be a reason.

The SMU win was a good thing. It makes them look a little less of a patsy opponent, they'll be so busy celebrating all week that they will have a hangover on Saturday and A&M will pay slightly more attention to SMU since they beat TCU, who beat OU.

Regardless, we will absolutely roll over them and won't be able to tell much about us until CU. Unless we really struggle against SMU, Tex St or Baylor, we can't know much until CU.

The supposed "cream-puffs" (SMU, Texas State, Baylor) coming up on the Ags schedule are starting to shape-up as interesting opponents.

It looks like there are still a few guys on this board who believe that we can simply 'show up' and kick SMU off the field without any real effort. I can remember feeling that way last year about Baylor. I'll bet that TCU felt that way before last night after having beaten Oklahoma last week. Walking on any field while believing that you can 'blow away' the other team by simply showing up is a recipe for getting a very rude awakening at the final whistle. In my earlier post, I believe that I said that I didn't expect the Ags to take that route. I can't believe the coaching staff or the players themselves would let that happen. I sure hope they don't

SMU will play tough against us. I really hope we don't take them for granted. There was a time when SMU was a great team...

DeMyron Martin is a guy we wanted and SMU got him? Give me a break. I've been following Aggie recruiting for several years, and I've never even heard of the guy.

Also, the Aggie fans do not reflect the mental state of the FB team. If they did, we would have the most schitzo team around. We hired Fran because under the former regime the team often took days off. Fran is still working to correct that situation and getting the team to play hard each and every game.

Given all that, I expect to pound SMU on Saturday.

If we lose to SMU all heck will break loose from the Aggie Faithfull. I'm sure the big-wig money donors for A&M are about sick as the aggie fan base of the texas hoopla.

Dude just cause rivals lists him as interested doesn't mean he had an offer...He probably came to camp and the staff talked to him, but I doubt he ever had an offer...

Guys, I would not expect a blowout Saturday. I am one of the ones still predicting us to win 8 or 9 games, but SMU very well could give us a tough run.

are yall serious...SMU is one of THE WORST Div 1 A teams out there...If we cant beat SMU soundly we have problems in the Big XII and should probably drop out...Texas goes on the road to be OSU, and the Aggies struggle against SMU...I thought we were trying to get back with the elite teams...

I'd agree. If the posters of TexAgs show up, I'd put my money on SMU.

OK, I found an article. TCU has 4 turnovers and their coach said he knew from two days of practice that they were not ready to play this game.

Plus their starting running back went out in the first quarter.

SMU is not some great monster that has been hiding and now come to life.

We did go after Martin for awhile. I don't think we pursued him all that hard though because he's not very fast. SMU's starting right tackle Darrin Johnson (I think that is his name) decommitted from us to go to SMU.

Martin was a guy we looked at very late in the process, I do know he came down for a visit. I can't remember if he got a offer or not, but I know we were interested. He was a guy that was injured his junior year so wasn't well known. He had a breakout year his senior year for Allen and school's got interested.

He was talked about in several of Lucci's reports from back then I believe.

One reason he choose SMU was how close it was to Allen and they started showing him attention first I believe. There was a article in the Allen American about it when he signed.

I made this point elsewhere.. Fran is a great coach once he's calibrated. That is, once he has a good feel for his players, as well as his opponent. I think Clemson surprised him a bit, but he's got 2 game day tapes of SMU... and he's going to pull the dead weight out of the 2-deep this week. Ags 42, SMU 10

I was in school when we tied them at the Alamo Dome, and I remember needing a miracle catch to beat them at Kyle.

And that was when we were a good team. There is no way we can say we just show up & beat them. We need to come out and make a statement

Borski, he had hours and hours of game tape of Tenn, and couldn't do crap against them...

in 94 and 95 SMU also had one of the worst Div 1A teams.

In 94 they tied us in the Alamodome causing the only blemish in a 10-0-1 season.

In 95 at Kyle it took a last second, last play great catch in the back of the end zone by Albert Connell to beat them.

If we take SMU lightly we will lose. This will be the biggest game of the year for SMU and its coach. Phil Bennett would love to beat his alma mater.

All of the above notwithstanding, my prediction is A&M 75, SMU 3.
