Some of them actually think it's possible! WTF? I thought that Arkansas and A&M had delusional fan bases, but wow! Note that the source is an iPad. Haha

A few of them are saying that they'd compete within 3-5 years.

Note, however, that most of them are reasonable about it and realize it would never happen.

SEC won't expand to another Texas team unless it's Texas themselves, and they'll lose everything they just gained with the LHN if they join the SEC, so that's not happening.

They need to go to the big12 as tcu's big rival.

I think the new big12 should have tcu, smu, rice, uh added.

They have a history of knowing just how to transform their program in record time, so don't count them out.

Texas wouldnt lose any part of LHN in the SEC. The SEC(like the Big 12) doesnt split Tier 3 rights. Schools are allowed to do what they want with them. Florida sells theirs to the Sunshine Network.

Now that I think of it, Auburn would be a natural rival. They could call it the "pro bowl," and it could feature a trophy called the $180k statue featuring a two headed golden Cam Newton and Craig James.

The president of an SEC university (which was not identified), they said, initiated contact with someone familiar with SMU's realignment effort, and the conversations did center around the possibility of SMU as a target institution for further SEC expansion.

SMU - Hello?
SEC Pres - Hey, (SEC Pres) here. Just heard about you guys thinking about moving up in conferences.
SMU - Wha...Uh, yeah. Been thinking about it. We aren't real happy.
SEC Pres - Well, can't blame you. What you have isn't a partnership. Not like what we have in the SEC. Between your history and our desire to expand the greatest conference into Texas, you are just a natural fit for expansion.
SMU - Hey, yeah! That's what we've been thinking. And with you already having a private school like Vandy in the east, we could be that balance in the west.
SEC Pres - Huh? Hey, is 214 the College Station area code?
SMU - No, it's Dallas. We here at SMU aren't anywhere near College Station.
