Said that A&M is shopping themselves to the SEC hard but that the SEC doesnt want them without tu. He therefore predicts the Ags will join tu in the Pac-10. He said his source was several SEC AD's.

aTm "fits" with the rest of the SEC....TU will not be able to bully the SEC teams around, on or off the field....so, regardless of their posturing, they are scared ****eless that they cannot compete on the field in the SEC....

Stallings is as connected as any ESPN reporter's source and wouldn't be so coy about having an opinion but not wanting to say it yet and going out on a limb if the SEC weren't interested.

Even sip brown, who is far more in the loop than shlabach, has acknowledged we have an offer.

Since A&M is never on TV, how will adding them to the SEC bring the Texas market into play suddenly? We already get the SEC games on CBS, so what added benefit does adding A&M w/out Texas provide.

And, NO, I do not expect any rational responses..

One would think Stallings knows the SEC AD very well and not push for the SEC if it were not an option.

If the SEC weren't a viable option for A&M we'd already be signed on to the PAC 16 deal with the others.

Because the SEC would put us on TV. Almost all of their games are on TV.

Our games were never on TV because the B12 has a ridiculous TV contract. Many worthwhile B12 games are not on television because of it.

We are the second largest school in Texas. We have approaching 300k or more in alumni (who are all pretty loyal). They are mostly located in the state of Texas.

It is easy to see why if we actually got A&M games on TV much less against opponents like LSU, Tenn., Bama, Fla. etc. that people in TV would watch.

But believe what you want to believe. We have value or we would have just capitulated and gone with tu and the gang to the pac10 by now.

Why hasn't it occurred to anyone that the SEC may be starting its own spin machine thinking we are turning them down?

The only CBS SEC games shown are the games that include the conference powerhouses(Fla, GA, Alabama). Otherwise, the other teams are relegated to the Raycom/Jefferson Pilot 11am slots.

I just fail to see where moving to the SEC is somehow going to change the profile for A&M. A team that is not competing for championships in the Big 12 is not going to fare any better in the SEC.

aTm in the West and Va Tech in the East is the big rumor that we keeps floating around from the SEC office. That adds the Texas media markets and DC/Richmond.

The current SEC contract mandates EVERY game is televised. 1-2 a week are on CBS, another 2-3 on ESPN and ESPN2 and 1 on ESPNU. The rest are on the SEC Network which is already picked up in Houston and DFW by local stations.

Again believe what you want to believe. In every major market in Texas I have found at least a half dozen SEC games on the basic sports package for cable. If you go full bore on a service like Uverse you will get every conference game.

We could not even get tech/A&M on tv in Texas.

I can catch Illinois every week on the Big 10 Network. How has that worked out for them?

So if our offer is contingent on OU or tu, and it is clear they aren't going, then why are we still holding out?

That makes NO sense.

Either we have an offer, or it is in the works. If the only way we can go is with tu or OU, then we would be in the PAC-10 camp by now.

Most of you folks are just saying that A&M is a great fit for the SEC and that they would love to have us based on what you think. The truth is, none of us know anything. The SEC might not want us. But to say these types of reports are false simply because you want them to be false is dumb.

The SEC has just about all it's game on TV as of this year. The COX cable provider out here even preempts it's local 24 hour weather channel for SEC games on Saturdays. And that's added to their normal ESPN and CBS broadcasts. They have the power and money no other conference can even dream of.

More sip spin. Earlier today austin media was saying we had an offer and were mulling it over.

The sip spin machine only knows what it is told.

We have an offer. We just need to decide whether to take it.
