So this guy has done some FOIA stuff with the lhn and has apparently found some interesting stuff.

He is implying through the tweets that tu officials knew what was going on in regards to their programming before the network was officially announced. He is also implying that the documents lay out strong evidence of tu's intentions to go independent.

We shall see.

I don't know if it is legit but it sounds like he is going to provide the documentation to back up his claims.

Of course, if he actually uncovered something groundbreaking with the FOIA request, it makes you wonder why our leaders could not do the same (or maybe they didn't need to).

My neighbor is a trust-fund tsip with a recognizable tsip last name, who swears that they will be independent within the next few (4-5) years.

He says the current Big XII is in existence just long enough for DeLoss and Co. to pause, charge their batteries, and to get everything prepared for "independence."

The Longhorn Network supposedly is the Holy Grail for their marketing, branding, broadcasting, and the vehicle for their independence.

Nothing earth shattering, but this guy was getting good info in Winter 2009 and Spring of 2010 about the Big XII, Nebraska, etc.

The lhn simply does not make financial sense for espn unless it is basically a step towards independence for tu.

It is not a good move to hedge against super conferences (a viable b12 network would do that).

Last year, IIRC, Bmed posted a FOIA requested materials on the rivalries board. What a hoot! Tceh was literally in meltdown mode, Hance was buying domain names for the new Pac-16, he was so positve the deal was done. Some state legislative guy (Waco based) was trying to call a hearing, with Chet Edwards on record instigating him.

This stuff gets buried sometimes, but like diamonds or oil...how deep you dig.

I can't tell what his big scoop is. The LHN had a stated intention to televise high school games from Day 1. As to the independent contingency, that wouldn't surprise me in the least. CBS has already reported that ESPN has a contractual right to reach an agreement with an independent Texas for a period of time and 48 hours to match a competing offer.

Just don't think there's anything new there. The out clauses in case Texas goes independent (ESPN has 60 days to offer, 48 days to match competing offer for all rights) and UT's best efforts to secure the UIL championship have all been reported in the media.

Regardless I'm interested to see what all is in there.

Why would a "news" agency report how biased and shady and underhanded they have been with one school?

Of course, we should expect them to report how they are intent on imploding the Big 12 (per the twitter feed)

Do you just randomly throw in commas (you may want to look up this new invention called semicolons) or is there some method to your madness?

It's paranoid when posters say ESPN won't cover A&M due to its relationship with UT but I agree ESPN wouldn't cover any issues/drama with the LHN. CBSSports, Sports Illustrated and every major sports blog under the sun have thoroughly covered the Big12 drama lately but barely a peep about it on ESPN.
