this came from a 2 friends. one works for the university and maintains the fish pond. it was announced to him at 2 today. the other is a tech director for FSN. he said he was contacted about 6pm.

They won't announce anything because they do not know yet! As of 5pm they were undecided, and still had to talk with not only Texas State, but the weather officials as well!! They have a scheduled meeting first thing in the morning to figure out what they are going to do!
I'm sure it's just that they haven't received confirmation yet, but I checked my guide and it doesn't have the A&M-SWT game showing at 6.
I spoke with someone at the 12th Man today, and I was told that there was a meeting this afternoon, but nothing was decided. Supposedly there's a chance the game will be cancelled, but it will be decided tomorrow.

i only post what i hear as do many many ppl on this board. for those that do not appreciate thew info please kiss my *** and move on.
I heard from a reliable source that everyone but athletics is pushing for the game to be cancelled. Reason being that it would be dumb to have droves of people flooding into B/CS, taking up all of the hotel rooms, etc for a football game when droves of evacuees are flooding into B/CS also needing hotel rooms etc. Then sending all the football fans back out on the roads that will already be congested due to the evacuees.
It's not going to be THAT many people coming in from out of town. It will definitely be a fraction of the normal amount.
Yes....roads clogged with evacuees 2 full days before landfall my ass.

If it was announced to your fish pond friend at 2 then why did we waste our time at the athletic department's second meeting of the day at 4, the emergency officials meeting at 5, and then put out a statement by the AD and the only person who can make such an announcement, and who hasn't decided -- President Gates? I guarantee you that the FOX employee wasn't notified of anything other than wishes, options and possibilities. Like everybody else.

That's because everyone else has their own source of income. Football IS athletics' source of income. No game = major problems within the athletic dept financially...
