I am out of reading material and need some recommendations.

The past month I have read:
The Tipping Point
Outliers
Gates of Fire
Lone Survivor
the Cajuns: A peoples story of exile and triumph
Penthouse Forums

I am thinking about picking up Mike Leach's book.

What is on your book list?

Did you pickup Gates of Fire after reading about it in Lone Survivor? I definitely did that.

I'm reading the second book in The Strain trilogy (Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan). I'm digging it.

I read a lot of stuff you guys would probably make fun of me for so I won't list that.

It was actually recommended to me at the same time I bought Lone survivor. I read Lone survivor 1st thus fueled me to read Gates of Fire. I am thinking about re-reading Count of Monte Cristo bc of LS and bc its one of my all time favorites.

How were the other books on your list FWA? I am looking for a good read and something to keep my attention. Gates of Fire was great but it was a lot tougher read (took forever for me to really get into it) than Lone Survivor.

I recently read Into Thin Air (book about Mount Everest tragedy) and it was a pretty solid read.

And for an entertaining read you can always pick up I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell.

The Tipping point and Outliers are from the same Author Malcom Gladwell. Tipping point is about things that cause epidemics and fads. It is pretty interesting. He talks about what started the Hush Puppy Craze, the Baltimore syphilis problem, why blues clues and other kids shows are popular. Its pretty interesting.

Outliers is about what alllows extremely successful people to get that way. The opprotunities, fortunes and other influences that effect them.

I really enjoyed reading them. The author has a way of explaining and tying in each story and example to validate his point. I am probably going to pick up Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking by him as well.

I'm on the final book in the trilogy right now. They've all been good. I read "Abraham Lincoln: vampire hunter" on vacation. I liked how they tied fictional events/characters into what was basically Abe Lincoln's biography.

Read all the Hunger Games trilogy a couple of months ago, and would recommend them too.

Lone Survivor is definitely a good read for those who haven't picked it up.

Outliers was interesting. I've had Lone Survivor on my list for a while I just don't read all that much and have yet to start it.

FWA, if you haven't already check out all the Lee Child books. I think he's done about 15 Jack Reacher novels. Sounds like you're more into non-fiction, but they're really good and fast reads.

Other non-fiction suggestions:

- Bases Loaded by Kirk Radomski (baseball steroid era written by the guy who supplied about 50+% of MLB their roids)

- Death to the BCS (But I'd be willing to bet you've already read that)

I loved HG!

I bought Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter when it was on sale on Amazon but I haven't read it yet.

Also, I have enjoyed some Penthouse Forum collections in the past but now I know of a nice website for such things.

Highly recommended. Could not put it down. Read half of it on a flight to Denver, and had it finished the next day.
Really gives you a look inside his mind and the way he thinks.

I'm reading Cutting for Stone as well as Drive.

After those I'm reading the Steve Jobs autobiography.

What kind of books are you looking for? I have some free time at work, so I have read a bit.

Sci-Fi:

2001: A Space Odyessey (and the rest of the books, 2010, 2061, and 3001).

Ender's Game (total of 9 or 10 books). The newer series, Shadow series, is good; the original 3 sequel gets a bit...theological/metaphysical.

Dune Series (total of like 15 books now, I think). The newer books by Hebert's son and a co-author are pretty good, but LONG. Like 800+ pages each for about 9 books (3 triology sets). Original series is good, for the first 4-5 books.

Fantasy

Dragonlance series. Essentially the people who made D&D wrote books, but most are decent, quite a few really good, a few really bad (about 190 total books)

Incarnations of Immortality series (Piers Anthony). 7 books about various "gods", such as fate, death, time, etc. Really good series.

Xanth Series, P. Anthony again. First 15-20 books are good, albeit kind of similar. Good, quicker reads.

Shanara Series (only the first 7 books; original triology and the 4 after that). Haven't read the other sets of books, but...haven't heard good things.

Thrillers

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series. You can read it in the order he wrote them or in the book's chronological order. I did the 2nd one the 2nd time around. Books flow really well.

That's all I have read since I started working. Not all of the books in all the series, but a lot of them (I have some free time). But these are older books, but you could get them from your local library (read in LaVar Burton's voice from Reading Rainbow).

Third book of the Staind trilogy concluded it nicely.

The Affair, another solid Reacher novel.

White Flag of the Undead series was pretty good zombie reading. If you like Day by Day Armageddon, then White Flag of the Undead should be on your list.

Vanished and Buried Secrets by Joseph Finder. (Lee Child recommendation)

Currently on the new Harry Bosch novel by Michael Connelly called The Drop.

My kindle action heated up the past 6 weeks.

I will join the others in recommending "Unbroken" and "What the Dog Saw"

I am currently finishing up "Winston's War" about Churchill during WW2 - I like it, but I am a fan of Churchill and WW2 history.
