Come join The Capital City A&M Club and TexAgs' own WatchOle (Brandon Jones '95) for lunch at Third Base Sports Bar - conveniently located on 6th St. just off MoPac - this Thursday, January 29th!

Networking begins at 11:30am with the program getting underway at noon. See you there!

Its about time we get to have a regular lunch meeting with a good speaker! Let's get it going up north at Sherlock's for next week.

It's about time - what's it been??? Almost a month? You young Ags need to get on the ball and keep this important part of the club active and growing. It has been grossly neglected over the past year or so.

Austin Mom & Rebel Ag - scheduling and booking a quality speaker fifty times a year is a thankless task. Historically, it's a sure recipe for volunteer burnout.

Sooooooo, .... how'd it go? Any groundbreaking revalations? Anything new since the SA club appearance?

Funny to me, it's been done for years and years and years before the past year or so. Don't let lack of personal responsibility get in the way of duties given to elected officers.

I thought it went very well. My cheeseburger was really good. The speaker did a very nice job explaining certain things, including how this site tries to interact with the general populace, young recruits, current athletes and even university staff.

Having been in charge of finding quality speakers in our industry association for two years, I agree with Keegan - it's a thankless, time-consuming job. It makes it easier if folks not charged with the job can help with ideas and even helping facilitate scheduling speakers through the appropriate channels.

After attending the meeting today, I decided to start thinking of folks I know who would be good contributors to these get togethers.

I appreciate the effort, even though it may not measure up to past performances.

I think we have a new volunteer for the lunch committee.

Austin Mom,

I'm curious, what are your specific complaints regarding the lunch program last year? I personally thought we had a great group of speakers including (just off the top of my head):

Will Wynn
Jennifer Kim
Dawnna Dukes
Billy Liucci
Porter Garner
Cid Galindo

I know that the committee members worked tirelessly trying to book speakers, many of whom would cancel at the last minute. It's truly a thankless job, probably the most difficult job in all of the club.

If you would like to assist this year, I'm sure the current coordinator would love some assistance!

I know that some of the upcoming speakers are:

- Bill Jones, Chair of the A&M Board of Regents
- Rep. Dan Gattis
- Lee Basson from the Flippen Group (they work with our football team and others like Colt McCoy on leadership)

. . . sounds like a good job to me. But, if you'd like to demonstrate personal responsibility skills, feel free to email president@austinags.org anytime.

I've already demonstrated my personal responsibility and am enjoying retirement. Ran my own business for many years. I've watched this club for many years and since I am not a graduate of Texas A&M, I have never had duties in the Austin club. But I do know what's going on.......

Explain to me how there were luncheon meetings in January with no officers and no programs? The meetings were scheduled. Uh, did you forget to go?

You both can get in a huff if you like, and that's okay, but you've not done your duties.

By the way, when was the election held??

As has been mentioned, you can contact any of us via email.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I personally have no interest in discussing the hard work of our volunteers with anonymous cowards hiding behind keyboards.

Maybe it's not a bad idea that the lack of leadership is exposed publicly, and I am NOT a coward. If I was a coward, I would never have said anything. After all, it's not MY club, so what dog do I have in the hunt? I am purely a concerned bystander.

You never answered my question regarding the election.

End of discussion. I'm done.

Apparently, you don't. There is no election. The club is composed of volunteers.

Other than not having lunch meetings in January, what other concerns do you have? The club welcomes any constructive feedback.

I would like to point out that January is the time we are trying to fill various positions, so oftentimes not all programs are ready to go for the new year.

I think people are getting upset here because you are implying that because there were no lunch meetings in January, then the officers in the club lack personal responsibility. You haven't taken into account the fact that there might be problems scheduling venues, that the program might be in the midst of changes, or that there may not have been anyone available yet to fill the position, or that all three of things may have been occurring at the same time.

I think we all would appreciate some constructive feedback on the program, rather than generic complaints about the leadership of the club.

Would you like to go to lunch some time to discuss any suggestions?

Yea, you are a coward.

You're sitting comfortably in anonymity and inaction lobbing potshots at volunteers that have put themselves out there in the interest of serving others.

If you bothered to send an email or make a phone call then I'd have some respect for you and your opinions.

As it stands, your words carry the importance of the dog turd that I avoided on my run this morning.

Austin Mom, don't insult the club's volunteers, as I said before, if you have a problem, suggestion, or want to volunteer, then email president@austinags.org.

This club is made up of individuals that have jobs, families, other responsibilities, and other opportunities to volunteer their time, but they are dedicated to the good of the Aggie family here in Austin and deserve support and respect for doing so. If you believe you can do a better job, please volunteer.

There were two luncheons in January (15th and 29th), the President and the Lunch Program Coordinator were at both, and the Past-President, VP Scholarships, VP Social, and VP Programs were all at the last lunch - so, you're waaaay wrong. Additionally, you weren’t at either one of those lunches, because I did not see anyone that fits what little we know about you. If there is ever a lunch scheduled, it will be on the club calendar online, and also in the weekly emails that go out on Sundays, sometimes, we even send a second email during the week to promote the event.

Regarding elections, the club is not set up to serve as a popularity contest. Every one of our board members has demonstrated multiple years of service to the club, managed significant fundraising efforts, and coordinated the work of large teams of volunteers at some point.

Let's move on folks. It is readily apparent whose posts justify a response.

I enjoyed the last meeting, and I and the wife will be renewing our membership and trying to help out any way we can.

I wish I could have made it, but I'm too hesitant to bring my little Aggie to the lunches. He's getting into the terrible 2's, and I wouldn't want him to distract from the speaker.

Congrats!

I wouldn't have wanted to share the cooties that invaded my house over the weekend either. Blech.

Maybe we can make an appearance at a future CCAMC lunch event. I'll clear it with the organizer before showing up, just in case. Some speakers and attendees may not be so understanding.

Also, while we're on the subject of family, will the CCAMC be organizing more events to include those with younger Ags? I know at one point, our chapter tried to start something, but it never quite got off the ground.
