I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for some just weekend backpacking trips my fiance and I could take.

I have heard that Somerville has trails, has anyone been backpacking out there?

Somerville is good. It has a trail system that connects the two state parks via the wildlife management area. Good trails and good backcountry camping.

The wife and I went out to Somerville a couple of weeks ago. It's a nice trail system. Not crowded. We saw a couple of other people biking and on horses. No other backpackers. We had one of the primitive camps all to ourselves.

Also, the Lone Star Trail in the Sam Houston National Forest is really good for backpacking.

I say a guy backpacking near the corner of hwy 21 and hwy 6 this weekend. He looked like he was enjoying it.

Yeah having a trail not crowded is crazy for me being from austin. You can't go 10 steps without seeing someone.

I might try Somerville soon, it looks like a good long trail.

growing up in Dime Box it was always nice to have a precut trail to go on over at Somerville.
